Where would you go and why?

I would go to Montana and have a horse ranch and my DH and dog. I would have cows and horses and even chickens... I would be at least 30 minutes from town so I couldn't hear planes, or the city noises... I grew up in South Georgia on 50 acres about 20 minutes from town... I loved it

Since Baris is an architect, I would love him to build houses out in the country for each of us, expressing each couple's identity and taste, who are very close friends, and live there happily ever after

If I could turn the clock back to before I was retired I would really like to live in Queensland, Australia. It is so beautiful with the Islands and the scenery. I have been there twice and would really like to go there again soon. It is not too hot, there is usually a little breeze, and you can always have a dip in the pool!

I grew up in both places about 30 min from ky lake on a 164 acre farm. (we had cattle) sigh those were the days.

Somewhere warm, no more cold and snow for me! Near the ocean would be great. I want to live in a small town, too much country is not good to me.

My husband and I want to have a cabin in the mountains, no neighbors, heck I think I'd even like my supplies to have to be flown in. That's how far away from people I want to be, except my family of course. We have these silly visions of sitting on a porch of a cabin in rocking chairs together watching our boxers & grandkids play with goodies baking in the oven. Corny isn't it? But for real that's how simple I would like to live. I want to have a nice cold stream full of salmon near my cabin where I can fish when I want and hear the water running by. That's how I want to retire, simple & happy.

Somewhere warm. My hubby and I were just talking about this. His dream is to retire in Arizona and have acres and 100 boxers. Being from NY, nice dry weather sure sounds nice. We are only in our 30 so we have got plenty of time to plan for hubby's perfect "Boxer Estate"

I can't exactly make up my mind on which of these retirement scenarios:
#1 Mountains, trees, no neighbors forever, lots of room for the 10 boxers, horses, and cats we have, white Christmases for the grandkids to come visit and enjoy, a large enough house for the grandkids to come visit for awhile, if they want to, coffee by a fireplace or out on a beautiful deck overlooking a creek/ mountains
#2 Beaches, sand, warm weather, enough room for the 10 boxers we have, Christmas lights in the palm trees, and, of course, still enough room for the grandkids, frappuccinos on the patio overlooking the Gulf of Mexico
#3 Tuscany, I think that just about sums this dream up, except for...enough room for the 10 boxers we have...hmmm.

Colleen...Come on Down!!! LOLOL We've got about 32 yrs to plan your trip. I'm glad you appreciate simple things like I do...life in general is way to complicated and I sometimes wish for the simple things again. My husband and I even considered doing something with our kids at Christmas next year just to teach them the "real meaning" and get away from all the running around and shopping that we have to do during the holidays. It's insane during the holidays for us. Three sets of grandparents that all want the kids at the same time and no one lives close to us so we're always driving all over the state. Our thought was to find a cabin somewhere in the mountains fairly far away from things and take them out there. Go find a tree, cut it, drag it home and decorate it with only homemade things, string popcorn and berries, etc. Each of us has to MAKE one gift for the other family members (I'm just talking about my husband, myself and the two kids and Coco), no tv, no phones, except of course we'd have one for emergencies only. I guess that's not totally simple but I'm not stupid either. Read the Story of Jesus and bake homade goodies and that is all. My husband thought of that, asked me if I thought he was crazy and I don't. I think it would be very special.
