Super Boxer
I fell in love with a boxer when I was a child, he lived locally and would come round to our house & spend the day with me. He would appear on the patio and press his nose on the glass waiting on me. I never knew who he belonged to but apparently they knew where he was all day. He was gorgeous:

Loved boxers ever since lovicon

This is the sweetest picture. Is that you?

I wanted a dog all my life, but my parents would never let me have one. I got Violet (boxer mix) when I was 30 and it was love at first sight. I mean literally. Not really sure how to describe it, but I stopped at her cage and had no interest in looking any further. I didnt do breed research. I didnt know anything about dogs, and honestly, I dont even think I knew that there are differences in breeds besides looks. I guess that I got really lucky going in blind. When she was a puppy, I would take her to the park where she and I met all kinds of dogs. Of all the dogs we met, I have yet to find a breed that I love more (maaaybe French Bulldog is at the same level), and some breeds that I am glad I didnt end up with.

I haven't posted on this board for several years (good to be back!)

I first fell in love with Boxers about 25 years ago when I was just out of college. I really wanted a puppy and around Christmas I went down to the local shelter. Although my family had always owned dogs, we'd never owned a boxer, but there was a litter of boxer puppies there and I fell in love with a flashy little fawn boy. I opened the door and he walked straight out into my life and heart. He was by far the best dog I'd ever known- a perfect blend of high spirits and sweet nature. I had him for fourteen years and after that no other dog would do- I had to have a boxer in my life.

I now have a Brindle boy named Petie who is the joy of my life- he is the happiest, sweetest, best dog ever and I can't imagine life without him!

I have always had dogs growing up. I don't think a home is complete without one. I personally never had any type of experience with boxers until I met Mike. Back in 2002, he decided to get a dog. We went to the local humane society and they had 2 boxer/doberman mixes. He adopted one. She had the facial features of a dobe but the body of a boxer. She was beautiful. But unfortunately she died suddenly a few months later. Mike and I weren't living together at that time, so I never really got to "know" her.
Fast forward a few years. Mike and I moved in together and my Scamp came with me. He was an outside dog. He absolutely hated (honest, he did) being inside. He passed away 2 1/2 years ago. I was devastated. Even though he was an outside dog, he was my baby. I told him all my secrets, concerns, and gave him all my love. To make matters worse, he passed about a year after my grandmother did. I was so filled with grief. I was very close to my grandma.
I told Mike I needed a dog in my life. I wanted a small dog, like a yorkie or a shitz shu, but he said if we get any dog, it had to be a boxer. He had always wanted one since he was a kid. He had been around a couple of them growing up. I tried to get him to agree to maybe a doberman (I like that breed too) or a rottie. He said boxer or nothing. After 6 months of looking, we found Tyson. This was before BW and all the great info on finding a reputable breeder. We drove 2 hours to see the 3 puppies. Tyson picked us, or should I say Mike. I fell in love with him from the moment I held him. He is so special to me. He has made my heart whole again. He is everything I have ever wanted in a dog. When I am feeling down, he will do something so funny, I have to laugh. When I hurt my knee (he ran into it doing a full tilt boxer burn and buckled it backward) he never left my side. He helped balance me as I tried to go up or down stairs, tried to walk, anything that was difficult for me. He never ceases to amaze me. Now, there is no other breed. He has also taught a lot of people that "bully breeds" are just a name. There is nothing bully about him. But he will protect us with all he has.
Sorry this is so long. I just love my sweet baby so much, and fell in love with the breed. There will always be a boxer in my house. My grandchildren will know the fun of going to grandma's and playing with a sweet, funny loving boxer. I just need to make sure I keep wipes nearby for all the sloppy kisses!!

We got our 1st boxer back in 93/94, a fawn female that came from an abusive backround. She had scars on her legs and ears where people were putting out cigars on her. :(

She was a great dog, one of the best we've ever had, but she was pretty mellow. It wasn't until we got our 2nd boxer in 98 that I fell in love with the breed. It was mostly her manurisms that always brought me joy, she was more of a "typical" boxer in how she played and acted.

They've been my favorite breed ever since! There was a brief period, when we were initially looking into a dog, where I was interested in a rare breed of mastiff, a Presa Canario, because of their looks, rarity, and breed qualities. Sticker shock over how much they are and how much of a handfull they could be to train and KEEP trained brought me back to my senses though. lol
