My Boxer

Boxer Insane
I love all dogs, but Boxer's have a special place in my heart. I've loved Boxer's since I was a kid. My uncle gave us his dog. A fawn, black mask female named Greta when I was 10. It was love at first sight! She was older, I don't remember how old. But she was magnificent! My little brother learned to walk by holding on to her. She would greet us at the door with her leash when school was out-she knew a walk was in store for her. She would cuddle with us a night. And protect us when needed. When we were outside, my mom said she never worried about us because Greta was there. Me and my brothers have so many stories that begin with, "remember when Greta...", even though we had many other dogs, but only one Boxer! When I got my very own Boxer, I named her after my first love, "Greta", and she was everything the first Greta was and more! Oh how I miss them, but my life is so much richer because they were in it.

I fell for them when we adopted our first one the summer I was 8. We had gone to the pound looking for a smallish dog. I walked the kennels, when all of a sudden ZAM POW! There she was, the most beautiful dog I had ever seen. A magnificent reverse brindle, spectacular cropped ears, amazing free stack. We called a friend who had raised/showed boxers to come take a look. "What is a dog like you doing in a dump like this?" was her opinion. An other potential owner had just taken her papers from the door. He wanted a mean (!?!) looking dog to be an outside guard dog. With some fast talking, we convinced him to look at another dog. She was my best friend, babysitter, guardian for the next 10 years. We haven't thought about having another breed since.

I guess I'm a late bloomer being 40+ years old, but ABBY is first Boxer that I have ever had. Athough I've grown up all my life with dogs of all flavors, from Dachsunds to Pit Bulls and I know people who have had them, there isn't anything until you've got one of your own. They are simply the best.

I had never seen a boxer until I met my husband. He grew up with boxers. We got our first boxer, Sugar, 10 years ago. We lost her this past Sept due to heart problems. My sis suprised us with our new baby Candy about a month ago. I don't know how anyone could not love these guys on sight! She instantly became the "favorite" of the family! I don't think my sis and her husband wanted to give her up after they got her home! Candy's grandparents (my momma and daddy) spoil her rotten. I think everyone is right. We all think we are running the show, but in reality these boxers have us in the palm of their paws!

I was 8 or 9 when we got my boxer/pit mix; we had her for 12 years. She and another dog had been abandoned under a bridge and my dad brought her home, she was the sweetest dog ever. Then when I saw a picture of Tink I was in love and knew she belonged with my family. Sometimes I think she was reincarnated from the boxer/pit mix...he he.

When she came home

I fell in love when Roxy came home. My boyfriend has always owned Boxers and I never made much of them until I met him a few years ago. I actually had a dachsund mix rescue for 12 years (she passed away this year the day before my birthday...one of the saddest days of my life). I have always loved dogs, particularly German Shepards, and after having my hot dog mix...I was sure I would get another wiener dog again sometime in the future. However, when my boyfriend brought Roxy home I absolutely fell in love. No dog will ever fill the hole my little hotdog baby left behind...but I have absolutely fallen in love with Roxy and I'm certainly hooked on Boxers from now on.

There was a female boxer name Phanie living at my grand father house where I used to spend summers. There was no other houses around but I was not alone. I hade Phanie to play outside, to watch movies and to love. That was 20 years ago.

Almost 2 years ago, Me and my girlfriend decided to get a doggy. We already had a 3yo (Maksim) skin boy and a house. My gf never had a dog so she ask me for two breed that she could choose from. So first choice a Boxer and second choice a mini-poodle.... She said she didn't want a dog that barks all the time for nothing so she choose the boxer. She thought that boxer was big dogs. Not so big after you saw a 130lbs Rotty running with Dax.

Now we have a second skin boy, 5 months old(Samaël) that love to look at Dax. I'm very happy for my boys because they will grow with a boxer. I'm proud that I can provide this presence to them. I wanted a boxer so much when I was young.

Now Maksim goes outside to play on the snowbank with Dax. He wont go alone. Same to thing to in the basement to play... Dax must be there. So funny at that age.

My guess is both of our kids will be hooked for life too.

I love all animals, especially dogs, but boxers are just special.

My dad loved them too and when I was just two, someone gave him a boxer.
She was my best friend growing up. I was 15 when she passed away.

So, I guess I have been a boxer lover my entire life.
I personally can't think of anything better.

This thread is so awsome, I love hearing everyone's special stories. Mine isn't all that different from all of yours. My Aunt had boxers when I was about 8 years old and they were awsome, she gave us one when I was about 12 and Mom and Dad got another about 1 year later. Bowzer and Booker...Fantastic friends they were. Then when I was 21 and married with 2 Daughters, my husband at the time and I adopted another boxer pup that we also named Bowzer. Not knowing any better, we got him from a horrible BRB and he passed away when he was just 5 years old. We then did a ton of research and adopted the love of my life from a very reputable breeder here in Wi. Booker was the most amazing boy ever, everyone who met him loved him. Booker was 13 when he passed. I am now 50 and single with 3 teenagers and two 12 year olds and I knew it was time to have another Boxer Baby in my life. Bentley is now 5 1/2 mo. old and I am head over heels in LOVE. I tell him all the time that "the more I spend time with the kids the more I LOVE you" They truly are THE BEST!
