What a cool thread!

I was raised with boxers (and a german shepard) so I don't know how life without a boxer is like. I have always had at least one boxer in my life that I have been close to but my Tossie girl was my rock through so many difficult years. She was the boxer I remember growing up with, my parents were divorced and I went through 5 custody battles and Tossie went back and forth between my visits with my parents with me, it was even in the court orders. She was the one thing that was always by my side. I was lucky to have her and after she left in 2006, my life was turned upside down. We all know how devoted and faithful boxers are and her commitment to me was enough to make me a boxer slave for life.

I can never be without a boxer, I owe that to Tossie and my parents.

I grew up with cocker spaniels and English setters. The first dog as an adult was one of my parent's cocker's pups. She was a mix of the cocker and whatever it was that snuck in the backyard - probably along a poodle line. After dealing with grooming for a year or so, we decided that short haired dogs were the way to go. The next dog was a German shorthair pointer, then a weimeraner. Our Roxi was next - our first foray away from the sporting breeds. We haven't looked back and now have three beautiful boxers gracing the living room furniture.

How ironic that 20 years to the date I fell in love with boxers I would see this thread. Twenty years ago I brought this beautiful, sweet, little girl home..her name was Chelsea..I've been in love ever since!

I fell in love with a boxer when I was a child, he lived locally and would come round to our house & spend the day with me. He would appear on the patio and press his nose on the glass waiting on me. I never knew who he belonged to but apparently they knew where he was all day. He was gorgeous:

19 years ago my boyfriend (now my husband of almost 16 years) decided he (we) wanted a dog. We started doing a lot of research and the boxer fit all the things we wanted. An active dog that is intelligent, loyal and they love children. We got our Bubby in January of 93 and haven't looked back. This breed is AMAZING. I've been without a boxer since then twice Dec 03 to July 04 and currently from October. I can say that they have been the most miserable times. I hope to have a new pup by spring.

x19er I thought it was just me in my "sensitive state". It amazes me that we all have different reasons but we all ended up loving these amazing animals. I've been blessed by the 3 we've be privledged to own so far.

To be honest I was never a Boxer fan...I was Mastiff's all the way. I grew up with German Shepherds, both show and working (Schutzhund/PP) dogs. Spent a lot of my childhood at the local GSDKC, . Then as an adult I was all about Mastiffs...until I met my husband. He had had Boxers over the years and was a Boxer lover through and through, . When we bought our house and found out I was pregnant, it was important to us to have our child raised with a dog and after many debates I agreed to a smaller mastiff like dog. So that's when we got our Joe . I have been partially converted. We will always have a boxer in our home, their good nature, patience with kids, unswerving loyalty and sense of humor is unlike any other dog! That said I am still a Cane Corso addict, so why not one of each? A house is never a home with out their goofy faces smiling at you as you walk in the door!

1996 when I retired from the Navy-I saw a brindle boxer a guy had and he spent over an hr telling us about how great boxers were. In 2006 we Got Dakota and it has been great ever since.

We have a friend that had a boxer. Every time he visited we were amazed by his dog because he was so smart and kinda quirky. He had very classic boxer traits, but we thought it was just that dog until we did some research. Hubby and I considered getting a boxer from a breeder but weren't sure we would have the energy and knowledge to keep up with one.

A few months ago we came across Brady by chance. His old owner was desperate to find him a new home and we really wanted a dog. The moment he jumped out of the car I loved him. It's crazy how attached I've gotten to him in such a short amount of time. I can't imagine being without him now!
