I was just curious why everyone chose to get a boxer? I was just remembering the time before I had Sammy. I remember wanting a blue Dobe first. I grew up with them, so I pretty much knew all about them. But I remember going into a local pet store and seeing this beautiful Boxer girl. Then I was hooked. I got books, I didn't join this site at first but I was constantly on here looking for more information. I gathered as much information I could, then I presented it to the BF whom of course said no. It took about 4 months of sending him pictures of puppies, carrying on, etc to finally agree to get one! It was so bad, I pictured myself cooking in the kitchen with a beautiful Boxer sitting next to me ready to grab what ever falls on the floor. I really think that I was sick! I knew where his food bowls were going, where his crate would go, etc. Now I am starting to get that sickness again for a second, and of course the BF says he'd love a second, but we don't have enough room yet. Maybe when we fence in the back yard.
Just thought I'd ask

I actually did not want a boxer. A friend of mine had one and all he did was jump on you and drool and didn't want one. Aaron had always wanted a boxer and he took me out to look at boxer puppies and I was hooked. Who looks at puppies and doesn't bring one home? The only thing I requested was that we did not feed him off our plate and he was taught not to jump. Muggsy has never been a jumper and every once and a while i have to clean drool off of his face but its not that bad. Now I am hooked I will have many many boxers to come. They are the smartest dogs. I swear it would be a major shock if Muggs ever found out what a dog was. Shhhh... :)

In our case, a good friend of ours had one. We had spent some time at his house and of course, she was always friendly and wanting/getting attention. I fell in love with her immediately and would seriously go to his house just to play with her. Talk about bad!!! Anyway, there came a point in his life where he wasn't going to be able to care for her and he asked us to take her. Of course I jumped on it. She was already mature and trained and all that so it wasn't a big adjustment for us. She seemed to mold right in to our family. We had her until she crossed the bridge. We waited several years before we got Coco but I never wanted another breed of dog so bad as I wanted another boxer. Now...I want two!

My DH grew up having Boxer's, so when we decided to get a dog, there was no question in his mind as to what breed. I had always had Welsh Corgi's growing up, so had no experience with these comical, athletic dogs. Ronin is our third Boxer (although my DH's tenth!) and I cannot imagine ever being without one! :)

Evie&Adam

Boxer Insane
Growing up, my family always had a dog (Irish setter, lasa apso, golden retrievers, muts. . . .) Then one day, my dad brought home a little brindle boxer boy for me!! total surprise! :D He was my first baby - named Smitty after my grandpa. He left us way too soon at the age of 2 due to a car :( that was back in 1990. It took me over 12 years to get another dog. When DH & I decided we were gonna consider a dog - no question it had to be a boxer!!!! They are so smart, great with kids, have so many expressions! So, I started looking. Well, DH went out of town for a funeral & I went looking at baby boxers! LOL :D Yup, Evie came home. And, of course you just *have* to have two! so once Evie turned 2yo, we started looking again. My criteria for a second dog was(with no exceptions!) a brindle boy named Adam. And its been chaos ever since! :D

i got my first boxer, Andie - 10 years ago as a gift to my husband since i had a dog of my own. I was not that thrilled with getting her since I was unfamilar with the breed but my friend need to give her away. Well she was the sweetest and cutest dog ever. I just loved her so much. When she went to the bridge i thought about another breed but just coming back to the boxers!!!! I would say that i am now def hooked on the breed. I have a 8 month old girl and getting ready to adopt her a brother....They are just the best dogs as far as personality and being super sweet!!!

My sister had a boxer for a while and tried to get a friend for her. It didn't work out, and after one particularly bad fight she called and asked me to take Maude home with me. She never left, and I was hooked. I joined a rescue because I loved her so much, I wanted to help other boxers find homes. That is how I got Capone. I don't ever want to be without a boxer again.

About 5 years ago, I went into my local gas station and a female boxer ran inside behind me. She was severely emaciated and there were obvious signs that she had had puppies within the past few days. I asked if the store owner knew who she belonged to and he said "No, but I am getting ready to call the pound because she keeps running in here and stealing cupcakes off of the shelves!".
Right then, I grabbed her up and me and my then 3 year old son, took her to the vet. It was winter so the vet said the puppies were probably dead or eaten because of her severe starved state. I took her home and nursed her back to health. I was scared to keep her, even though she was friendly, because my son was so small. So I ended up calling a rescue group and they took her.
Earlier this year my son, now 8, asked about getting a dog. He said he really liked the one we found at the store that one time. So I started doing research on boxers. If only I knew then what I know now, I would have kept that little girl. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder about her. But now I have a boxer boy and boxer girl to hug and cuddle with. I love them so much!

I helped a friend in need, he was looking for work and was able to get him working with me as a helper. He was so greatful, that when he found out his boxers were going to have pups he ofered one to me free. I didn't know much about boxers so I got a book to research the breed. I had a mutitude of dogs since I was a child, but never a boxer. I finally decided to take a puppy from him, since I never had a puppy and always got someone elses dog. Justice turned out to be the best dog I've ever had so much so that I went and found a mate for her to play with while I'm at work. I will never have another breed, only boxers. However my fiancee wants a rott, maybe I'll make room since I love her, but the boxers will have the final say!
