I switched over to Canidae at the begining of this month and he's been getting it with either plain yogurt or raw egg mixed in. He really seems to like it.

Quite possibly a food allergy. Nutro Max isn't the nastiest food out there, but it does contain a number of ingredients that are very common allergens. Quite likely that is the cause of the scratching. It's low on meat content too, so there's another good reason for an upgrade ;)

As a rule, it's best to avoid foods that contain things like wheat, soy, corn, beet pulp or any form of unidentifiable ingredients (eg. things called "poultry" or "animal" or "meat").

Ricky also seems to have this scratching issue which was why I started to research a food change a couple months ago. How long should it take to see a difference if it was an allergy to the food? The vet gave me an anitbiotic, antihystamine, and a leave in conditioner. She thought it was a bacteria-related rash. Hasn't really seemed to help the itching, although the red rash is gone.

Thanks!

Pup Feeding

I have a 12 week old pup who I have had on Blue Buffalo but it has made all of my pets sick. I am trying a premium food from Sam's. What I am wondering is has anyone had problems with the Chicken Soup foods? I don't want to give them anything else that will make them sick.
Thanks

Hi, Hkjj--I hope you will take the time to look up the "premium food" you are feeding from Sam's at www.dogfoodanalysis.com I know I was quite surprised to find that the "vet recommended" food I had been feeding was really actually pretty bad for my dogs and cats! I have since switched to Innova for all of them.

Canidae is amazing, many boxers in our area have had great results on this food. As I have mentioned in other posts, Drake had a lot of stomach upset, and extremely bad gas.. but has no longer, since on Canidae. Good luck!

Abbey's Mom

Boxer Booster
Abbey is currently eating...

...Blue Buffalo Lamb Formula. It really is the only decent food available at PetSmart. She likes it a lot and has gained some much needed weight in the last few weeks.

Prior to this she was eating Canidae All Life Stages, but seemed to be getting bored as we neared the end of our 40lb. bag.

I mix both with canned food (no particular brand) for her two main meals. I have been free feeding a cup of dry kibble in between meals since she has been under weight. I think I may stop that if she is able to maintain her current look.
