What are your boxers afraid of?

Toots loves to lick our feet.. gross i know but when she is laying down on the couch or at the bottom of our bed and we move our feet she gets all angry and jumps down.. I haven't figured that one out either and my fiance and I always pet the dogs with our feet but not her.. very weird

Her phobia of feet bothers us, for we figure it means that she has been kicked at some point in her life. :mad: We both grew up being able to pet dogs with our feet, like when you're watching a movie and your dog is lying at your feet. But not with Karlee. She practically jumps out of her skin when feet touch her. We hate to see her that afraid of us, so we try to be very careful not to scare her.

Today I found out Dash is afraid of lawnmowers- my neighbor was cutting his lawn and my boy freaked out when he was outside. He hasn't done that when my husband cuts our lawn so maybe something else spooked him? And he is also scared of shadows. When I take him outside at night, our shadows on the grass from the light scare him- if he sees one, he'll start running toward the door. haha.
Dash and Odie were scared of going into the basement of my new house. They wouldn't even dare put their paws on a step for about a good 2 weeks. I'm not sure why because they are used to stairs from our other house, and it's not a dark/dingy basement. We had to carry them downstairs and once down there they acted normally.

We never thought Evie was scared of anything but in the last week we've found two things. We have an acoustic guitar which we never play, I got it out the other day and she REALLY didnt like it, she just stated backing away and hiding behind the couch, bless her

The other one is puddles, its been raining here non stop for a few days and she will not walk through a puddle, its quite comical the way she'll just tip-toe around them, when there's a few of them together. There was a big one which she couldnt walk around, she just stopped, crouched down onto her belly and would NOT move, it was so funny, the boyfriend ended up having to pick her up. It made me chuckle icon

I'm glad you mentioned the basement!! I forgot to mention in my earlier post that both of my boys are deathly afraid of the basement stairs. They go up and down the stairs that lead to our 2nd floor all the time, but the basement stairs for some reason are scary. I have stood at the foot of the stairs with treats of all sorts, but they won't budge. The cat's food is on the landing and they've never tried to get at it. If I'm coming up the stairs (they're always waiting at the top for me) and try to beg them to come down, they head for the couch and sit like statues, like, "please don't make me go down there". They are a riot!

I'm glad you mentioned the basement!! I forgot to mention in my earlier post that both of my boys are deathly afraid of the basement stairs. They go up and down the stairs that lead to our 2nd floor all the time, but the basement stairs for some reason are scary.

Do your basement stairs have risers, or can you see thru them? The only time my dogs didin't "deal well" with stairs it was because you could see thru. It seemed to freak them out at first. They did get used to them, (they had no choice, it was the only way to get up to the 3rd floor apt.) but it took a little time.

Just yesterday Clare scared herself. We brought home several bags of compost/dirt to re-do a section of grass in our yard. We stacked them up against the fence, but it was in her pee/poop area. She did not see us doing this, so later on when we let her out to do her business, she went tearing over there at those bags and started barking like crazy!! Hilarious!

Xena is just starting a fear imprint stage so she's afraid of everything. They are both afraid of the mailman putting mail in front door drop slot and deathly afraid of laundry baskets. If you flush the toilet when they're in or near the bathroom, they both run for cover. When it stops they creep up to the toilet to sniff and inspect. Today we were resting during our walk and a trash truck pulled up. When the dumpster was lifted and banging loudly, my two went bananas trying to get away or get between my legs. Xena was jumping up like she wanted me to hold her. When it was over their hind legs were trembling for dear life. I felt bad but I couldn't help but be tickled by their antics.

The basement stairs do not have risers, but they can't tell that from up above - they have never been down them so I don't think they'd know if there were risers or not!

Oh I tried everything with mine to get them down there. But nothing worked! Dash finally got the courage and went down them..as fast as his little feet would allow him! It was the funniest thing ever! It took Odie a few days later to find his courage to go in the basement. He probably was jealous at how much fun Dash was having down there! Now a days as soon as I open the basement door they run to get down there!! Silly boys!
