Audrey- too funny about ur hubby- sounds like my bf... what a temper- boxer daddys must all be hotheads-- my bf freaks out driving too, but when hes around noone will mess with me or Samson...
Story time!
My bfs uncle used to live in the upstairs apartment at the house where he and Samson live. Well one day his uncle was visiting after moving out (my bfs grandfather lives upstairs), and I was bringing Samson out for a pee... and he said "is this Pauls dog?" and I said "no hes mine and Pauls" then he says "well why are you letting him piss in my yard then??" I just laughed and walked away, as I always do when his fam is rude to me, because I dont want to start anything- they are all hotheads! So I mentioned this to the bf and the next time his uncle came by (Christmas eve actually) my bf brought Samson outside and let him pee in the front yard, and turned to his uncle and said "so NOW its not a problem that hes pissing in your yard??" and his uncle said nothing and he said "if you have something to say, get the b*lls to say it to me, I'm sick of everyone picking on Meredith because shes so nice" and his uncle jsut went into the house...

My hubby was at work when this happenned...but i KNOW if he was there this lady would have been OUT of her car....lets leave it at that.
So far its been pretty quiet....but i know once the kids go back to scholl this will start all over again...at least this incident is on police record....and now i know who to call when she speeds through our street...if she keeps this up her licence will be taken away

I am so sorry that you and your children (skin and fur) have had to experience this situation. This is my first knowledge of your post and thus, I have had the advantage of reading everyone's response to your situation. Because of what you are going thru, and what others have posted, I simply want to give an additional pespective.
I would like to start by saying that in general, I do not enjoy the company of children. I have nothing against them AT ALL, I just prefer not to be around them. That being said, if someone ever even mentioned (by words or by action) that they intended to cause harm to any of my neices or nephews, and/or any of the family pets, they would be forced to think twice. The fact that this person "doesn't like kids" does not make it "normal" (as everyone sane knows!) for her to want to harm them and/or you and your dog(s).
I know that many people have mentioned that you might try to get her behaviour on tape in order to clearly document it w/ the police, so I won't repeat that comment. I applaud you for not changing your walking route to compensate for her psycotic issues. Her mental problems are not your problems! Good Job!!!!!!!!!!
As a family of "professionals" in this area (both my husband and I have degrees/backgrounds and much experience in the psychology and sociology fields) like others said, I would be VERY CAREFUL w/ this crazy. It is very possible, based on your account of her behaviour towards you and her response to the police, that she does not view this behaviour as abnormal. From experience, this is the primary thing that triggers concern.
Honestly, if she was "normal" and the police came and asked her if she perpetrated an act of violence against children and/or animals, do you think she would have freely admited that she didn't like kids in general? If she does not think she is doing anything wrong, and feels like she has to escalate her behaviour towards you in order to get her crazy point across, I would be very worried. I obviously do not know anything (except what you have stated) about her condition. I am sure you already know that "crazy" people often do not consider their behaviour to be abnormal.
Also, I have no idea what the laws are there, but here in SoCal, we basically have to have physical proof before the police will bother to do anything.

In closing, you sound like a very rational person who will not do anything stupid. Again keep in mind that there may be something very wrong w/ this woman and that she DOES NOT KNOW that what she is doing is totally wrong! Without going into detail, there are MANY psychological conditions where the person affected has NO IDEA that what they are doing is wrong. I only say these things because I would hate to see something happen to you or to someone that you care about because you "took the law into your own hands." Again, I think that the way you are dealing w/ this is great and should be an example. I applaud you again because we also deal w/ constant issues w/ our next door neighbors and know how frustrating and diffucult this stuff is.I wish you all the best of luck and peace in your heart as you continue to deal w/ this problem.

FYI, to everyone who posed additional violence as the solution to this problem, if this person is really "crazy" don't you think that it would only escalate the violence?!?!?!???? For all the people w/ "manly men" who would have taken care of the problem w/ force, how do you know this would have fixed things? For example, my husband came from a "violent" area, has a Budhist father, was in the Marine Corps for over four years, has a degree in Psychology and is physically "scary" would never use violence in response to this situation because he knows the mental limitiations of mentally challenged persons. I have personally been in situations where it would have been much easier to take care of it yourself rather than wait for the lame police w/ their bureaucratic limitations. It never worked.
Finially, I wish much strength for you and hope that nothing further happens to you and your family.

Oh sweetie I am sorry that you guys had that incident.

I would document EVERY single time she does something. Also go one step further and get it notarized. Documenation is the key to getting all things done.

With the bus, get a camera and take pictures of it. Make sure that the date shows. Even better is if you had a video camera.

Do you walk your kids back from the bus stop?(You might have said something, but I have short-timers brain lately)

I know ho wyou feel....there used to be this man that lived in teh bldng near my house and hed shout off his balcony how he was going to kill all the kids in the neighbourhood etc...scary stuff.

Okay, first this lady is a criminal and should be dealt with appropriately. If you are not getting satisfaction with the police response thusfar then you need to speak to a police supervisor. Call the chief or even the mayor (or political equivalent in Can.) since these calls usually recieve more attention. In the states, and specifically NY you could have filed charges against her, EWOC (endangering the welfare of a child), and reckless endangerment at the minimum. There are also laws (NYS Public Health Law) to govern insane people and the police here can act if a person is a danger to him/herself or OTHERS. I would set up surveillence with a video camera to catch her in the act as well. This lady is going to hurt someone eventually and must be dealt with immediately. I am not sure of the laws in Canada but I can't imagine they are that much different. You need to be persistent and make sure a paper complaint is filed. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

That is SO scary. I don't know your financial situation, but could you hire a private detective? Maybe you and the other parents could pool your resources? It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen and no lawsuit or criminal charges will bring back a child or pet.
Make sure you instruct the detective, that once he has the evidence, about one cup of sugar is sufficient per gastank. It's not escalating violence, it's disarmament!!
