On a lighter note..........

When people ask me if my dogs bite, I always reply:
"yeah, (big pause......................) their food.:p

I truly can't understand how anyone could be afraid of a Boxer puppy... BUT adult Boxers, especially darker colors with cropped ears really can look ferocious! I haven't had any problems with people being afraid of CJ, I don't see how anyone could be afraid of that face...but if that ever happens, it won't bother me nearly as much as not being able to walk two steps without people practically knocking me over to get to him and pet him...THAT is far more annoying when you're in a hurry or you're trying to get his attention or teach him something and people just butt in without asking!

Also I like the idea that they can look scary, because I would feel safer with a scary looking dog that I know I can trust (not just with me, but other people as well), but the "bad guys" don't... do you know what I mean?

Uno,
I don't think that Boxerma needs to lighten up. Most of what she was saying was in a "I need to vent" sort of way, not a "I think I can go shoot someone if they say something I don't like" sort of way. If we can't come here and express our feelings in an honest manner without being singled out and being told that we shouldn't feel the way we feel, then sadly this forum will not get very far. I don't want to feel uncomfortable saying what I feel just as I am sure you don't. It seems that someone that takes something that someone else says SO literally is the one that in all actuality needs to "lighten up". Just my opinion :)

Great Ad

I just received my Better Homes and Garden magazine for the month of September. Page#232 Article reads:

BE AWARE OF DOGS
Man's best friend may also be a young childs worst enemy. It goes on to say how the attacks occur or are provoked by children. It also has a guideline for parents to teach their children. Here comes the best part. It says half of dog bites involve family pets so choose wisely when buying a dog. (then it goes on with)
SAFE DOG BREEDS ARE BOXER, COCKER SPANIEL, IRISH AND ENGLISH SETTERS, AND GOLDEN AND LABRADOR RETRIEVERS.

Boxer Pal
Boxerma & Heather,

I'm not going to apologize for my post, if that's what you're looking for. The third sentence in my post was
Please don't take offense to this cause I'm not here to insult anyone.
I never said that you're not entitled to your opinions or that you shouldn't share them. I encourage discussion. How else can we learn from one another?

Boxerma why didn't you respond to the questions/comments I raised regarding
Do you think maybe that they're crossing the street because their dog may be aggressive, and they want to avoid a confrontation?

You say
Excuse me for not knowing the name of the prong collars, one of my good friends uses them on her dogs. I don't judge her like you did me for not knowing what they are called like you did me, is this because you feel guilty using them.
Where in this quote do I judge you for not knowing what pinch collars are called?
BTW the choke collars with the pointy things are called pinch collar and they're (IMO) much better for dogs than choke collars.
Where is the insult? And no I don't feel guilty for using them. Why would I feel guilty for using something that's a better training tool than a choke chain? As amnesia said
Even though they look much more fierce, they are a better training tool since they 'equalize' the pressure across the entire neck (unlike a choker. In fact, these are highly suggested by both obediance centers in my area (for all types of dogs).
If you're referring to where I suggest that you take your own advice, I meant that in regards to why people
white knuckle their leashes and cross the street for fear of Bingo attacking them I guess
If you don't talk to the owners of those dogs, how do know that they're crossing the street for fear of Bingo?

I don't care that you used the "idiot" word, I was merely pointing out the irony of saying you don't judge people, and then in the very next sentence you call people idiots. Don't you think that's ironic? Of course you can use the word, and of course there ARE idiots that have, and will continue to, cross our paths. You'll also note that where I said
EVERYONE, me included, judges others.
I included myself in judging others.

Where you say
And I don't know where you got stabbing, punching, and the like. What is up with that?
What's up with that is my questioning your use of the word ANY . You'll note that I said
I'm sure that's not what you meant.

Nowhere in my post do I make mention of my education.
It's good you can show your education by defining the terms I and many others have used here to express our utter disbelief in situations. If that is how you like to try and degrade people
You don't know if I'm a Phd. or an elementary school drop out. I defined what I mean when I use the words ignorant and stupid. Where in
No matter where you go in life you are going to run into people that are rude, and either ignorant (defined as having not been taught yet), stupid (defined as unable to learn), or both (defined as unable to learn no matter how much they're taught).
am I degrading anyone other than ignorant and stupid people? Or do you include yourself among them? I certainly didn't say that, nor did I imply it. If you read that into it, that's not my problem, it's yours.

Lastly, I have no doubt that you love your dog, but IMO until someone is a parent they don't really know their full capacity to love. That's just my opinion, but I bet if we put a poll on this board, for parents only, that asked the question If you could only save one, which would you save from a burning house your dog or your child? the answer would come back your child. Which is why I say there is no comparison between the pride I feel in my dogs and that which if feel for my son. If you're a parent you know that's true, if someday you become a parent you'll find out that it's true, and if you never become a parent you'll never know.

Again I say lighten up.

I don't know about boxerma, but I never said anything about you having to say that you are sorry. I think you just like to read things into what people say for the sake of arguing and I am not into that. Sorry but I have better things to do.

Apparently uno, you are looking for some kind of a fight, maybe a sign of your immaturity. I tried to address EVERY SINGLE ISSUE you brought out, but your post is so long in anger towards one person, it was hard to cover everything. Besides that, I don't think anything would seem to make you satisfied, only those that have the EXACT SAME opinion as you. And here is your answer to the question of if I think they may be crossing the street going away from me, IT WAS AN EXAMPLE and I am assuming from the expression on their faces and the "WHOA HE LOOKS MEAN" comments I get, excuse me for leaving some little detail out. I guess I was thinking the people who read this have better things to do with their time and I was trying to abbreviate a story.

And no, I was not looking for an apology. I don't assume someone with your social skills could handle doing that. And yes, you did say I wasn't entitled to my opinion when you TOLD ME not to compare love for children over ones love for dogs. I'm curious do you disect every other post on here or is it just me you have a problem with?

When you said saracasitcally, "BTW, those collars are called prong collars" is where I get YOUR JUDGEMENT FROM. And don't act like you didn't try to demean someone else by saying such things as "DEFINED BY". Thanks, but I have a dictionary. You might want to look up the word forum. Also, you seem to want me to jump at telling you if I have children or not.........why are you so nosy. What if I am unable to have children? What if I have 30 foster children living with me...what If I have 2 children..? What does that matter. This question was about DOGS. Apparently you are quite consumed with the past post about who would you rather save, a stranger or your dog and were just looking for a reason to bring that up again. Well, I say grow up, we disaggree, and ENOUGH ALREADY. I'm sure others don't want to read all of this crap when they click on this post that might be interesting to them. Get a life and get over it.

Some people just can't understand that we live in a very diverse world and not everyone thinks the exact same (thank the lord, what a boring place it would be if we did). There is nothing I hate worse than for someone to not be able to handle that there MAY just be several different ways to look at something. If I am going to be put on a hit list for taking up for someone that I think is being unfairly singled out..then hit list here I come!
