I am so sorry for the loss of your baby girl Abby, she was a beautiful boxer!
I hope your deployment goes well...I was in the AF for 8 yrs and during one of my deployments my 3rd boxer girl Zoe was suffering from cardiomyopathy. I was so sad because I wanted to be with her. I felt like nobody really understood what I was feeling as many of my coworkers would give me that look that says "but it is only a dog". She was such a sweetheart and I felt I had let her down. During my deployment (in Somalia) I made friends with many of the young children in the village. One boy touched my heart as his parents complained that his head was always in the clouds and he had ruined their herding dog by making it a "pet". This boy could be seen all day running with his beloved dog not too far, no fancy toys or playgrounds. Just chasing eachother. It touched me and made me realize that I was not the only animal lover there.

When I got home my Zoe was still hanging on and did give me the sweetest wiggles and kisses to let me know it was alright. I helped her to the bridge not too long after. I pray your deployment will go by quickly and safely...you are truly doing a good thing. Be strong, your in my prayers.

Godspeed Abby angelicon

Thank you, Dora. I agree completely with you. Very few people seemed to understand the bond that I had with Abby. Only a couple of family members and close friends. Other than that, business as usual... You know how it goes.

I'm glad that our babies allowed us to say goodbye to them together. Mine didn't want me to leave her ill and yours hung on to say goodbye until you came back to her. Coincidence??? I don't think so... They know...

Thanks for your prayers and support.

I just wanted to wish you a safe journey and I will pray for you and your family while you are separated. As hard as it is to let them go, we are very blessed that they share their lives with us and give us so much while they are here. Abby had to go before you left, she had to be able to watch over you while you were on deployment, she couldn't have done that from home. When you are having your darkest days, remember her and smile because I beleive she is there with you and will comfort you. God bless.

It's just me.

AllisonJ-I figured that it is my turn to check out your story. Abby's website was fantastic..what a tribute to your baby. I had no idea what you had trully gone thru. What a heartbreaking tale. You sure are under alot and with an 18 month and hubby at home too. Brave woman you are! I am certainly even more impressed by your courage.
I certainly understand the bond you had with Abby, it is very human like when they interact with us. Leo and I had so many little fun secrets and games that we played that no one else got. It was so cool that way and I think that is why I took it so much harder than anyone else in my family. My 12 year old daughter took it hard also. She seems better but every other night I still hear her crying in her bed. That gets me, we share a lot of good memories now and it makes us both laugh. Sorry..that was insensitive but soon you will be home to share new memories with a new puppers and your family. Remember to take care and be safe.

As someone has said to me....I know that Leo and Abby are playing and running together at the Bridge...Watch out Abby, Leo likes to pounce! Get him girl!

Thanks Tracy. As weird as it may sound, it was very "healing" for me to create that tribute to Abby. I felt like I had to honor her. She was truly a member of our family, our 4-legged child.

You're not insensitive at all. You've been through a lot too! It must have been doubly hard to help your daughter through this loss. At least my son didn't really understand, and I didn't have to explain what was happening and why Abby was gone... But my husband tells me that he has been saying, "Abba, Abba" and patting his leg for her to come... My heart breaks all over again hearing that...

I bet Abby and Leo are buds for sure. She doesn't like other girls, but rather prefers the company of gentlemen... Can't you see them bouncing around and boxing as we sit here all bummed out????

Abby

I am also new to BW and found it because I had alot of questions about weird things happening to my beautiful girl, Sophie. We just lost Sophie yesterday also to lymphoma tho we did not know even 2 weeks ago this would happen. I know how you are feeling and it is difficult to read alot of the threads as it hurts so much but I had to write and tell you what a beautiful tribute to Abby and also tell you Sophie also had lots of names-Sophia-when she was elegant in her boxer pearls, sopher, dopey, goofy girl and oh so pretty. We think SHE was the best as you feel about your Abby. They are just truly the best dog friends in the world. Sophie had lots of 'babies'- toys all over, that I will sadly be finding hidden by her under beds, chairs and outside yet. Good luck to you, we are close in sorrow and experience-Cindy

I'm sorry for the loss of your Sophie. I think the pain eases with time, and we have so many wonderful memories to fall back on. Take care and hang in there.
