Boxer Booster
Took the day off from work today so I could take Ella for her teeth cleaning. We had just returned home and I was logging onto BW to post a question about gums when I heard tires squealing and a horn honking. I looked out the window to see an unfamiliar SUV come to a screeching halt in my across-the-street neighbor's driveway. (A house that we are watching while my neighbors are out of town, btw.) A man I've never seen before jumps out, and runs up to their front door. Obviously, I was alarmed, and went out to investigate. As I got closer, I could hear a little dog howling and yelping. The man was trying to whip a small black dog with a leash he had in his hand. I shouted to him to ask what was going on and if everything was alright and his response was "No! I don't have all day!" He said he'd lost his dog and then irritably asked if it was my house. I explained that I was house sitting. (In the meantime, his dog had escaped into my neighbors' backyard.) He said I could go back there and get her if I wanted, but "She'll probably bite you." I went to the gate and whistled, but, obviously, the dog wouldn't come. He became even more agitated and said "Oh, you're not going to go back there?" I explained that it was locked and my husband had the key. (Not to mention, why would I go try to catch a terrified, unfamiliar dog when he'd just told me I'd probably get bitten!?) As we walked to the other side of the house to see if the dog had come out the other side he snapped "Well, I can see you're not going to be much help." I responded "Well then, I'll let you handle it," and walked home. I didn't feel the need to 1.) stand there and take abuse from an idiot stranger or 2.) help this man get his dog back. Obviously, the dog would be better off ANYWHERE else. Shortly after returning home, I watched the dog tear back down the street and the man get back in his car and leave. I hope that dog runs its little butt off and NEVER gets caught by that evil man! Seriously, WHAT is wrong with people!?
