Oh wow...these sighs certainly have attitude!! Xena will often give an extra long inhale and exhale on the sigh, ya know...when the air-flow begins to get shakey like she's forcing it! She is a real drama-queen!! :p Spirit however will whine. When he's bored, he walks around with a toy in his mouth and he whines.

Our little boy sighs every night. It's so funny. Sometimes he'll sleep in the other bedroom, and I'll be laying in bed and hear him from across the hall. It puts a smile on my face each and everytime. It will never get old.

a sigh, or maybe a cleverly disguised way to share boxer snot!! I just love getting the spray in the face! Also a fan of the vocal-yawn and the "cleaning my butt" noises after the lights are shut off!!

Ohmygosh, this made me laugh out loud and I sit in a cube at work! Tae does the vocal yawn and makes the "cleaning my butt" and other areas noises. The first couple times she did that, I had to turn the light on. I thought she was getting sick on my bedroom carpet!

Tae also sighs. Sometimes, if I am not paying attention to her, the sighs make me feel guilty! Boxers definitely know how to lay on the guilt. If Tae wants to play fetch, but I am busy with something else, she'll drop the toy with a hard thud and kind of hang her head for a few seconds. That kills me everytime.

I call Hammer "The King of Sighs"! He's the master at giving me the sigh when I tell him can't do something. ;)

As boxers get older, do you notice the sighs become more refined? As a small puppy, Gruntboy sighed even then. But as he's gotten older (18 mos now), he has different sighs for different occasions, many of which are listed in this thread. The one in particular that I haven't heard yet is the disgusted sigh accompanied by wht we call the "vulture look", when he wants something and we're not paying attention. This look is accomplished by (and he is in a standing position kind of splayed out a little) extending his head and lowering it, and looking at me with much disdain. If I continue not to pay attention, he gives one big huffy snort, followed by another disgusted sigh, and slinks away. Cracks me up! Of course, 10 minutes later, I give in when he comes and licks the back of my knees. :)

Mugsy sighs when he doesn't get his way or if he has to wait for something. It's hysterical. i never had a dog that sighed before.
