I couldn't watch the show on TV and I came here to see who won before I watched it online. I was much more relaxed watching knowing that Presley had won!

I think the judges were a little rough on JD as well and I think if the show were truley the greatest American DOG, Galaxy would probably have won. I also think that Laura and Andrew would have won if it weren't for the fact that Laurie couldn't even leave the room without Andrew going to find her. Not only once, but three times! I do think that is unhealthy for the dog since he would be distraught if something happened to Laurie.

Of course I am SOOOO happy that Travis and Presley won! I've been rooting for them but I thought Presley's young age would cost him since he's really still a puppy. We all know how easily distracted young Boxers are! Way to go Travis and Presley!

Congratulations to Tavis and Presley!! It is truly remarkable that a 16 month old boxer baby managed against so many older dogs.

Boxers have always been , are, and will always be the best.

I called it at the beginning. I *knew* it would be Travis and Presley. Course, it helps that they are from my home state ~ Oklahoma. AND that Presley is a Boxer!!! wooohoooo!!

I haven't been here in so long ~ to boxer world ~ and told my hubby last night ~ I bet boxer world is blowing up. I came to look and sure enough ~ there were many pages on the Greatest American Dog thread!!

Yay Presley!! appicon I am so thrilled that he won. Travis and Presley are a fabulous combination with a wonderful relationship. lovicon
I am, however, very concerned that your average Joe with no experience or research of the Boxer breed will now go out and buy a Boxer with anticipation of having the next Greatest American Dog... The show was very focused on obedience and showed a lot in regards to the training that goes into a well mannered and well adjusted dog, but as dog owners, we all know it's not that simple! I'm hopeful that people who may have been introduced to the Boxer breed via this show will do adequate research before aquiring a Boxer, or any of the dogs featured as the number of our precious pets that are in shelters already is astounding! I shudder to think of how many more could eventually become owner surrenders if the owner goes into ownership with the mindset that the dog will train itself, or automatically be the perfect pet... I wish there was some kind of PSA during or at the conclusion of the show talking about the hard work, training, and dedication goes into owning a pet.

I was so excited that Presley won that I teared up and couldn't quit squealing and jumping around. My boys couldn't figure out what was going on. They haven't slept in my bed with me in weeks (they've taken over the couch) but they both slept with me last night. I think they thought something was wrong with me and they were worried

Betsy B I couldn't agree with you more. I am proud that a Boxer won the competition because we all know and love this wonderful breed of dog. My biggestest fear is that there will be way to many back yard breeders out there now pushing the breed and then the rescues will overflow with "I didn't realize boxer's were so much work and they have so much energy". One of my very good friends said she didn't think they represented the true boxer on the show by everytime they showed Presley he was laying down next to Travis calm, cool collected. We all know that to get a 16 month old boxer to that state takes A LOT of play time or activity.

Hopefully the show will promote responsible dog ownership. It should start with Travis and Presley as the spokesmen.

Yeah!!!

I too was so EXCITED last night when Presley and Travis won!!!! :) Happy happy happy days!!! Buster is my first Boxer, but I truly LOVE him and this breed. Boxers are the best! I thought Presley did a terrific job on the show and proved how teachable Boxers are, even at a young age of 16 months. It's so awesome. I only started watching the show because I saw that a Boxer was on there. And it has been fun watching him through the series. I do think that JDs dog was well trained, but he himself blew it with his attitude and unwillingness to accept critism or to even say he didn't learn anything from anyone else. Even the most advanced trainer and dog can still learn something from someone else. It just showed his arrogance. I think he thought he was going to win and had too big a chip on his shoulder. I don't doubt that he loved Galaxy to pieces though; that you could tell. But...in the end, I was still super excited to see Presley win!!! Yeah Presley!!!

A Big WOO WOO to Travis and Presley! I just loved how Travis went under the elephant to sho Presley it was ok...how sweet! Way to go!!! I just can't get over the fact that Presley doesn't drool! Gosh Oskar would have had a swimming pool under himself waiting for the treat from Victoria!!!

Boxers Rule!!

Yippee!! Yahoo!! Wasn't that awesome of Pressley to not eat that treat on his paw?? And he did so well on the obstacle course!! And I really don't blame him for not wanting to go under the elephant - but when his daddy did - then maybe it was ok. That little Andrew, he is so cute, but if his owner wasn't right there at his side, I don't think he would have made it through the obstacle course.

But all dogs, in the eyes of their owners, are the Greatest American Dogs. Aren't they??

This is my big concern also.
