The eccentricities of a Boxer mind

Not so much eccentric .... but smart thinking. If I am eating a snack and Luna adopts that "feed this poor starving dog " gaze, and I look at her and say "No " ...... she will then start going through her repertoire of tricks in the hopes of finding the one that will earn the reward.

Thing is, it works, as I feel so guilty at her efforts that I always end up sharing a piece.

I had a boxer who knew the command "roll over" but did it in the weirdest way. He would turn in circles really fast as if he was trying to get dizzy, and as soon as he did he would fall over then roll. He was great at parties everyone busted a gut every time he did the trick. Still till this day cant understand what caused him to do it but it makes for a wonderful memory.

Hahahah .... that is so funny !

This reminds me of Luna's "Pow Pow Your Dead " trick. She also started doing all these circles, with exaggerated swaying, before finally dying ( sometimes we would have about 5 circles Lol ). Serious "overacting" if ever there was !

I wonder what goes on in their heads when they do this sort of stuff !

Funny, I can relate to many of these silly little quirks, the fresh water, the not pottying in the rain and the ever so famous won't jump up in the car with out turning and giving the over the shoulder look of help me, even though Joey could leap over a 6 ft fence, but the strangest I have encountered with Chance is that he won't go to bed at night with out a night light on. Lol we thought after he got settled into his new life and he was good and comfortable in our home he would eventually go to bed with us without a night light on. NOPE. If we turn the night light off he is up and passing the room till we turn it back on then all is good and we all cuddle up and go to sleep.

Gina loves to sit by the side of the bath and lick the bubbles. She will bury her face into them and has a foam beard. It looks absolutely hilarious!

Dakota our departed Boxer was the most charismatic I've seen. When we left her in the car to run into the store or coffee shop she would step over behind the steering wheel then reach up with her paw, push the horn and look around to see if anyone heard her. It would be like "Hey you forgot me" We had people we didn't meet until later who would tell us about a Boxer they saw who was blowing the horn. They would stand and watch her. I was quite funny. She was so proper about it and did it with such fineness.
She was a vocal Boxer as well. She became good at telling us what she wanted.
She was also one with a high hunting drive and new what trees all the squirrels lived in at the dog park. She would point and bark at them.

One day when Trudy was young I opened the tailgate of the wagon, tapped the floor and said "Trudy! Hup!". She jumped straight up into it like she had done it for years and she continued to do it for more years. When she was nine and gray faced though I said "hup" like normal. She stopped and looked at me. Then she walked over to the passenger door and looked again. I guess her hupping days were over. Arthritis maybe or something else.

My mom has a rubbermaid spray mob in the kitchen. When we visit, any time she wipes down the floor, Kahner stops what he's doing/gets up and goes to take a drink. The wettest drink ever, carrying half the water in his jowls to drop on the floor. Its funny to watch the two of them duke it out, and makes absolutely no sense to me. He doesn't do this anywhere else, and he doesn't miss an opportunity while we're visiting with her.

He'll also jump into any car seat. If there doors open he's going in!

Bode needs a boost into the truck if we are alone. If daddy gets in the truck first he can just in no problem... What is up with that???

Daisy loves to drink any water that is coming down to her. Shower, hose and when we walk she will stop and open her mouth because she knows I have a bottle of water for her in my back pocket. She does not like to drink out of the toilet but loves to watch it as it is flushed. Her favorite game to play with her Lab brother is when he is on the floor she will jump on the bed and when he gets up she uses it to jump ( fly ) over the Lab.
