Your poor little pup-and poor you! I am so sorry she is so sick and will say a prayer that she rallies. Is a second opinion in order or have you already been down that road? Sending gentle boxer wiggles from mine to your sweet Brandi

I talked to the vet again. Her biopsy came back on her spleen, and NO cancer. So that is great news!!!! :D

He is putting her on the probiotics. He said he will give her the rest of this week to see how she does on that, and if not better by Monday he will refer us to a specialist. Good thing, because I was going down that road anyway if she wasn't better getting any better by Monday.

She was only on pain meds for the first few days after surgery. She has been off them since the weekend. I will try the potatoes and chicken meat. She is never going to eat regular dog food again after all of this. ;) She was on a vet rx canned dog food diet, low residue, also easy to digest. She stopped eating so then they tried this other stuff, I don't know what it was, but it was vet rx too but man did it smell horrible. They said, if dogs don't eat this stuff, we know they are really sick. She ate it. But it's very high in protein and can give her the runs also so it was just to mix in with her food to get her eating again.

So out of curiosity, how much pototoes and chicken do I give her. She is down to about 55-59 pounds?

I so can't tell you all enough how much I appreciate all your feed back and all the well wishes!!!!!

HUGS,
~~Jeanette~~

Well Gauge is a big boy at about 80lbs. My vet said 1cup cooked chicken and 1cup cooked russet potatoes each meal but he gets 3 meals and is really active. I would maybe start slowly at 2 cups potato and 2cups chicken divide into small meals. Just remember diarrea can take a while to get rid of, we where using chicken and rice but the rice seemed to upset the diguestive track more. The potatoes are softer. Do not add anything too the potatoes.

The probiotics will help too.

Things haven't gotten any better, if anything things are worse. We have been to the specialists now, and they are fairly certain she has Boxer Colitis. The problem is they are not sure if she is past the point of the medication doing any good. They have her on a antibiotic that Boxers are suppose to respond to and if she hasn't improved by tomorrow they want to do an ultrasound, and she said that they really can't tell anything from this but just to make sure there isn't any really thick lining. Then they want to do a colonoscopy and one down her throat. She isn't strong enough for surgery. And all of this and they can't even tell me that she will be okay after all of this.

I am so stressed, don't know what I should do. I don't want her to suffer anymore, all she does is sleep on her chair or up on our bed. She is hungry but won't hardly eat anything.

I've tried rice and tuna, potatoes and tuna. they don't want me to give her chicken. I am going to try oatmeal when I get home, someone else told me to try mac-n-cheese. Any other suggestions.

I don't want her suffering, I don't know if I should have her go through all this only to not have any of it work. I am so upset. I just want to make all her pain go away.

Brandi lost her fight

It kills me to write this....but last night I had to make the awful choice to have Brandi put down. She was during okay on the meds, but friday she started throwing up after she ate. Finally her stomach calmed down and she was able to get some rest. She ate a little bit Saturday then ate nothing after that. Late last night she was laying on our bed and she lost all bowel control. We took her into the emergency vet and made the hard decision to let her go. She has suffered enough and I didn't want her to be in anymore pain.

She hugged and hugged me like she was telling me it was okay, then she layed down right next me.

It's been an extremely hard morning, Koda has been by my side pretty much since we have gotten home. He's layed with me in bed or sat with me on the couch. It's weird only having one dog in the house.

I miss her terribly but also know she is no longer in pain and she is keeping Jasper, my Dalmatian I had for many many years company now.

Thank you all for all the support and encouraging words!!! It means a great deal!

HUGS!!!
