Rowdy Boys

Completely Boxer Crazy
This is my first post since I've been a member.

I need SUPPORT!! So, I came to the place I've grown attached to - here.

I've been away from our boys for 48 hours now, and I think I'm going to die.

Is anyone else away from their babies this holiday and having separation anxiety?

Usually we take our two fur babies on vacation with us, but my mom and dad got a German Shephard puppy just after Labor Day, and now we have to leave our babies at home.:( Their house just can't support three inside dogs, my parents, my sister, my husband our daughter and me. Plus, Omar isn't fixed and we don't want any problems with the 4 month old female.

Unfortunately, I've learned how different German Shephard dogs are from boxers. She doesn't like anyone other than my mom and dad. Our poor 6 yr. old daughter is really feeling bad right now. The puppy barks at her, runs away from her and doesn't let her pet her. Plus, the puppy and my daughter seem to be jealous of each other because of the divided attention they are receiving from my mom. Justice doesn't understand why this dog doesn't like her and takes it personally. She's so used to Magnum and Omar - they worship her.

And, to be honest, I don't understand that GS's behavior either.

I already called the vet yesterday to check on the Rowdy Boys, and I will be calling them again tomorrow AND Saturday.

We're going home on Sunday, but the vet will be closed so we can't pick them up until Monday. I am leaving work as soon as they are open and getting my boys.

I am not as worried about Magnum as I am about Omar. We adopted him just before Memorial Day Weekend, and this is the first time he's been away from us. I am afraid he'll think we've abandoned him. I took their fleece blankets from their crates for them to have in their runs. I also took their food for them to eat.
They are in runs next to each other. Hopefully having his "brother" by his side will be comforting to Omar.

So, since I can't be with my boys, I've come here for a "fix" and I've already pulled out the pictures I brought with me of our boys.

I just miss their kisses and their wiggles and their sassy woo-woo songs.:(

Thanks for listening friends. Happy Turkey Day.

Oh yes been there done it!
I remember my first time leaving our male Buddy at a boarding kennel. He was 8 months old, and we boarded him for a week. Although I knew these people well, had used their services before with our Springer, I still was a frantic mom. All went well, and the big welcome home we got from him made everything seem okay again.
We did board him after that, but I made sure our friends, who owned his sister, were available for emergencies and just to check in on him. Fortunatly for us, boarding became unnecessary as our friends took over taking care of him while we were away. Kailee has never been boarded but I am sure the first time she is will be very tramatic for me.
Sounds like you did everything you could do to make them comfy. Omar will be fine, as you said Magnum is right beside him. I have also found through experience of Kailee being a Rescue, that these rescue boxers are more resilient than we think they are. ;) Enjoy your time away, and let us know how the reunion with the Rowdy's is on Monday.

Well everyone makes fun of me because even if I am gone for one night I start boo-hooing when I have to leave my babies. I am so lin love with them, I can't wait to get home from work each day to see them! So stuff yourself silly, have a good time, and call to check on them as much as you like, it always makes me feel better to hear my boy is well when he's boarded at the vet... he's such a trouble maker, I can't get anyone to watch him

I think I can top you all!!!

Okay, how about last June we(hubby and I) Went to visit our parents in California, and we had a friend come over and take care of two of our dogs and she took Meg to her house. I left a two page letter at the house on how to feed, water and what ever else I thought they needed to know.... She thought I was nuts... Then I called as soon as I got to Cali, and found out that my girl stayed by the front door after I had dropped her off, and hadn't eaten since I left.(which now was three days, we had a lay over in Paris) I started to cry, I tried to think of all kinds of ways to get her to eat, and I called home (SPAIN!!) every day until she finally told me that she was eating agian. I was a basket case I wanted to go home soooo bad, I kept telling everyone that I missed my baby, and they thought that I was nuts! She is my heart, and the love she gave me when we came home was the BEST!!!

Two weeks ago we went to Fla. for 4 days. I was SOOO worried about leaving Aussie I made everyone nuts! I just feel no one can take care of him like I could. And I didn't want him to think he was being left again. (His first "family" left him at the shelter) Even tho his "Grandpa" came over our house to stay with him I missed him terribly. He did just fine-probably better than me! Got lots of but wiggles and kidney beans when I got home! :p

I too am missing my boxer girl. In fact i am missing my whole family. You see I'm in the Navy Reserves and on November 1st I was recalled to active duty for a year. I was living in CT at the time. I havesince relocated my familly to upstate NY where the are staying with my wifes family. I am attending the Navy's Law Enforcement School in VA. When I graduate I get to go up to NY for a few days to spend Christmas with them.
