Mickey has slept with us since day one, and we wouldn't have it any other way! Even though he sleeps on top of the covers and takes them away from me and my hubby! I said something to the husband last night about making Mickey sleep in the guest room and he (the one who said that Mickey WOULD NOT sleep in the bed) said that he WANTS Mickey to sleep with us. But, that's always before we go to bed and find ourselves in the cold! :p

As much as I would like to have her sleep in be with us, I can't. She is too much of a bed hog. It is not that she wants to hog the bed, I think she just wants to be close to me so badly that she ends up running me out of the bed, LOL.

Usually she just sleeps in her crate with the door wide open. We started to leave the door open when she was about 7 months old, figuring that she would prefer to sleep in other places in the room. Nope. After one night of sleeping on the floor by my husband, she went right back to her crate with the door hanging wide open.

When we go away to our parents' houses, she gets to sleep in bed with us because we don't take her crate.

Glad to hear we are not the only ones! Our new puppy Harley would not have it any other way - he sleeps right between mom and dad usually with his head on a pillow or on my neck! He loves cuddling up under my hubby's gootee ;) - He had a reallly hard time with his kennel - he would cry for hours upon hours so we decided to try the bed and that was it. He loves it and now we are stuck but that's o.k. for me. We'll see what happens when he weighs more than 19 pounds thoughsmashicon

Roxanne slept in our bed every night. But until Maggie is housebroken, she'll sleep in her crate. Right now, she can wait about 6 hours at night before she needs to go out. After we take her out in the morning, she spends the rest of the night (morning!) in bed with us.

Training Tactic?

I haven't found a bed other than mine that Diablo doesn't chew to bits. I've started putting old rugs in his kennel. Since I'm gone all day and he spends much time in his kennel, I don't mind him sleeping at the foot of my bed. Thank goodness he learned that--when he was younger, he'd always plop on the pillow. The pillow my head was on!:(

What's the training tactic re. sleeping quarters?

Well guys I have funny situation, as the weather has got colder(Florida cold!) Dempsey has slept on the bed almost every night, though in the summer she always used to sleep UNDER the bed. and even though I have a king size bed I normally end up on the edge!! But I would not trade my littlegirl for anything she is truly a wonderful companion

They can have the whole house, but the bedroom and the bathroom are forbidden. Only on explicit invitation to wake up my or my husband, they arre allowed in the bedroom. It sounds strict, but I want a little space in the house without boxer traces (slime, hairs, crumbs etc..)
But ... they accept and respect this.

When I had Sega, he always slept in his own bed next to ours. Occasionaly I would let him snuggle with me in the bed if I was sleeping in late or taking a nap......but those boxer "popcorn" feet keep me from letting him in all the time. Nothing like waking up with a smelly boxer foot in your face!:D
