Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort

Hi all....just wondering if any of you own a sleep number bed. If so, do you like it and did you find it was worth the $$? Thanks for any replies.

I don't own one, but I remember trying one out and it just wasn't for me.

We ended up purchasing a Stearns & Foster Cal. King. This was a few months ago and we couldn't be happier.

My brother and his wife (at the same time) did purchase a sleep number. I *hate* laying on their bed. But they seem to like it!

I don't have one, but my parents do. They just love it! I'm thinking about checking into them someday. How much do they cost?

My daughter purshcased one during her third pregnancy - I believe she paid around $2000, but said that it was well worth it. I tried it out though, and it did nothing for me ~ cathy

They are between 2000-3000+ depending on the model and if you actually want the legs for the bed etc...I didn't think it was even worth it and bought a regular pillow top mattress set (Serta for 400 dollars on sale at Costco) and have been very happy. That and they called my home for months just because i called to get information about the bed and the called at horrible times and sometimes 3-4 times a day. I felt harassed about buying the bed so I just didn't answer the phone when it was them anymore. Took them a year to stop calling me and they still send me junk mail.

We ended up buying one. I had checked into them several months ago. Thankfully I didn't have any problems with harassment. I never got any phone calls and only received three mailings. We ended up with what they call the 5000 model which cost $1800.00. It's quite a bit but by the time I got done looking at regular pillow top & plush mattresses, the only ones that seemed to make us happy were running around $1000.00 to $1200.00 anyway. I've bought cheaper ones and they just don't last for us. The set we have now, we paid $650.00 eight years ago, they are junk, they are going in the trash. I think they should have lasted longer. My husband has back problems and my hips bother me quite a bit so we decided this would probably be the best route. We should have it sometime next week so I cannot wait to actually sleep on it. It's got a nice warrenty on it (even after checking the fine print) so we hopefully won't have to buy another bed for a looong time. I think it all averages out in the end. I do appreciate the replies and I'll let you all know after a night or two how it's going.

Ooooh, I'm so jealous! Please let me know how you like it. I also have back/neck problems and was thinking of checking that bed out myself. It would be good to know what you think of it I wouldn't mind paying the extra money if it's worth it.

We bought the 5000 back in April and we both LOVE it. It took me about a week to find my number and it changes depending on how my back feels. I hate when we are away, I never thought I'd miss a bed. Good luck with it

I have a friend who swears by hers - she thinks the Sleep Number bed is the best thing ever invented. Her hubby could care less and would sleep on a rock though.

I know someone else with a Therapedic and it's really comfortable. I'm hoping for one of those when the time comes.

I'm one of those poor people who has a husband who won't give up his 15 year old waterbed and after 4 years it's starting to take its toll on me. Hmmmmmm.....wonder if those sharp little puppy claws can help me out....

Coco'smommy: I'll be interested to read what you think about the sleep number. My DH has back problems as well and the mattress we have isn't working.

I'm considering between a sleep number, a memory foam and a "heavenly bed" from the Westin. I've heard good and bad things about the first two but only great things about the "heavenly beds." We'll see.
