I think you SHOULD get another boxer! My female boxer was 4 years old when I heard of a rescue needing a home in my area. It happened so quick, I just brought Chance home one day. It was tough for about the first 10 days, but now they are best friends. I can't imagine them not having each other for company. PLEASE rescue, there are so many boxers that need great homes. It is so rewarding, and your new boxer will be greatly appreciative........you'll know it. Good luck!

You aren't seriously asking this question to all of us boxer nuts foolicon and expect anyone to say "oh no, one is good".

I'll be the one.
I had two boxers. Boxers are wonderful, by far my favorite breed. But I will never have two again. Think of any trate that is not the best to live with your boxer, times it by two. One of mine started jumping the fence, few weeks later they were both doing it. Double the vet bills.I could go on, but why? You get the point.
There are many out there that have more than one, some more than 4, and have a great life. More power to you, wish I were you. But for me, one is enough. Just make sure you have thought it through.
And if you decide the answer is yes, I wish I were you!

I have the same question as gixxer - Kirra is now 6 months old. I love her to death!!!!! I also have a 7 1/2 month old Minpin, who 75% of the time is a boxer snob :) LOL. There is a breeder not far who had a male returned because the owners thought it was aggressive (even though they said they've had boxers before) eg: when they picked it up to put him in a cat crate he would bite at their hands {gee, go figure}. Anyway the breeder took him back, gave them a full refund and has numerous testings with behaviourists who say NO WAY - he is not aggressive, they are even doing up a letter stating what they did and so forth. This boy gets along with all her boxers and danes and family. I would love to bring this boy home, he is 4 months old now. Some of my concerns are 1.) training, its tough with just one. I want to get Kirra into obed./therapy and agility and then I have to find time for this one too. I also have my minpin in classes to give him something to do. I think they 2 would be great together and maybe my minpin would get some peace and quiet - hopefully the 2 wouldn't gang up on him though:) Also $ is a concern. I paid XXXX.XX for Kirra and this little guy would be the same price. I thought initially his price was cut in half because he came back and is now 4 months old then I would do it (am I wrong in having $ as an issue? Here is his pic http://bayridgeboxersndanes.tripod.com/caboose.htm. Any thoughts or advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks everyone

definately without a doubt, can't you take any holidays from work? you take two weeks and then Linda take two weeks by the end of that month the pup will be more or less settled. We are going to get another in a few months i've just been made redundant so its the perfect opportunity. Plus Rocco has never been left on his own he comes everywhere with us so I wont feel as guilty if I ever had to leave them!!!

I'd have to add my doubts--not to having two Boxers as I have two. But I'm a stay at home mom and my time is my own-and theirs. Boxers are social, people loving animals and need not only each other but their wider family as well. If I was working full time and no-one was home, I wouldn't think of two. Mightn't even have one. To my mind it's rather unfair on a baby to be left alone for so long. My two are always seeking me out during the day for company although they have each other. Just a thought!

I have a boxer that needs a good home

Oz is fawn and purebred. He was born 12-10-03. Great dog, needs a loving home because I am working such long hours and am a single mom now. I hate to give him up, but I am thinking about his best interest. If anyone is interested please let me know.

DH and I are gone all day. We have a 2 1/2 yr old girl and just got her a brother about 1 1/2 month ago. Although they are totally insane and the house is chaotic, I am so happy we decided to get another boxer. Nestle basically did the house breaking with Porter. I would not change it for the world. I say go for it!!!

Two Boxers, Twice The Fun!!!!

I've had my boxer baby Gavin for almost two years, and recently decided to get him a little sister. Gavin wasn't our only dog, but he was our only boxer. He gets along great with his other siblings, but seems to know his new boxer sister Idgie is just like him. The two of them play non-stop, and they are just so cute together. Idgie follows Gavin around like they are the best of friends, and he is showing her all the ropes. So yes, you should definately get another boxer. You will have sooooo much fun!!!!! :)

We would like your opinions on getting a second boxer.
Our situation is this –

Gixxer, we now have two boxers. Maggie our female is 18 mos. and we recently acquired an 8-week-old male puppy, Rico…several weeks ago. They get along great, play and entertain each other.

However, I work a 3-11 shift and my wife 8-5. Point is that someone is usually with them all day. They are both crate trained and/or learning in so much as the puppy only sleeps in the crate but is out when he’s awake. IMO young puppies take a lot of care particularly with house training/ breaking and feeding.

In response to your initial post: My opinion is that you should consider a second boxer, but perhaps an older boxer or rescue because of your work schedules. I think it would be difficult to train two young boxers, particularly a puppy on your current schedule and it might not be fair to you or the puppy. Just my opinion….although I’m sure others have managed!

Whatever you decide ….I wish you well!

Completely Boxer Crazy
Well, we have had two boxers always!! We are waiting for our third to be born, ( please hurry up!!! we cant wait to love you!!!!) We also work during the day, however, my mother in-law is able to stop by everyday and let them out, give them treats and love, it works well, years ago I was confronted by someone about "don't you feel bad leaving them all alone all day", well, I do, and we miss them terribly when we are at work, but, we have excellent quality time with them starting the mineute we get home. Our babies have been all over with us, we are all inseperable, they have good lives. We pride ourselves on it. Sometimes people have pets that they are home with all day, there are no walks, there are no rides, there is no ball playing frisbee throwing. This is my opinion, I have a job that I have to go to, I wish I didnt, but, I think arrangements can be worked out :) Maybe even an older dog that needed a good loving home might be an option. I wish you well with whatever your decision. For me, two has always been wonderful, I consider myself the luckiest person in the world!!
