I just came across this thread and want to add that I am sorry to hear about Riggo. He sounds like a real trooper though, and we wish him the very best with his treatments. Grunt and I send LOTS of boxer healing vibes and hugs to Riggo and his family. Keep us posted.

I looked at your gallery and Riggo is such a handsome boy!!

Completely Boxer Crazy
Being a nurse i can tell you that the lack of side effects from the chemo has nothing to do with how well it is working. He is just lucky that it doesn't bother him much. Every person, and i imagine dog, reacts differently to any drug.
It is kind of like morning sickness in pregnancy , some get so sick they need to be hospitalized and others don't have any sickness at all.(iwas lucky 3 kids no sickness)
so i really wouldn't worry about lack of side effects, just be thankful

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I can feel your pain, as my 7 year old Chewy is in the hospital right now with pancreatitis and kidney problems. His future right now is unknown, but I'm trying my best to stay on the positive side. Here's a prayer that I found that you can say for your dog:

Heavenly Father:
You created all things for your glory
and made us stewards of this creature
If it is your will, restore it to health and strength
Blessed are you, Lord God,
and holy is your name forever and ever. Amen

Chewysmom,

Thanks for the prayer is that one from St. Francis?

Pancreatitis and kidney problems sound like it is curable correct? I hope Chewy is doing better.

MomsTaxi,

Maybe you're right and I'm worrying about nothing, I am a computer analyst so I tend to overanalyze things a little but that's what they pay me to do. It is raining today and Riggo looks so depressed because he loves to play in the backyard with his big red ball. Do any of your boxers react to the weather?

Riggo update;

I haven't posted in a while mainly because I've had trouble with my login ID. Riggo had a very good couple of weeks. He had a chemo treatment of Adriamyacine and DTC before Thanksgiving in the hopes of knocking his lymph nodes out once and for all. He was good up until last week when I noticed his mandibular glands beginning to swell again. I took him to the oncologist Friday and she started him on a mini cycle. She said that she was a bit disappointed that his lymph node remission only lasted 6 weeks. She did say though that these things are unpredictable. Another dog she's treating came out of remission in 2 weeks went through a mini cycle and has been in remission for 20 months so I'll continue to think positive.
