Boomer is our first boxer. We really had no idea what was in store for us when we got him. Don't get me wrong, I researched the breed (including reading many of the posts on here). None of that really prepared us for the antics he displays. He is really a lovable 9 week old handful.

Today I took him to our vet...another entertaining journey. We were the only customers, but the doc had an office full of vet students helping out. Since we were the only customer Boomer got all the attention, really his first exposure to socializing with someone outside of our home. He was wonderful.......very well behaved, and interested in everything.....not shying away from anyone or anything, even walked well on the leash for one of the students. The doc started removing the stitches from his nub...he didn't like that and was hard to hold still until he saw it....doc's cat. The cat was just strolling through the exam room, not a care in the world. Boomer forgot all about his nub and shot, he just stared...canting his head. When we put him down he decides he has to check that out a little closer. Big brave puppy goes trotting right up behind the kitty and starts following him right into the lobby. Cat sat down and looked at Boomer. Brave puppy looked like he was doing back flips trying to get back behind me for protection then stared at the kitty from behind my leg. He was still staring at the kitty when we were walking out.....he kept walking into things instead of watching where he was going. None of us could help but chuckle at the whole display. He was still staring at the vet's door from the truck.

Boomer - male Fawn docked and floppy (the clown)
Reggie - male Red dachshund (the boss)
Beau Beau - male blk/tn dachshund (the spoiled baby)

That's really funny! I can picture him now! :)
I have 2 cats and both my boxers go crazy when they see them. If they are on the other side of the gate, the dogs will whine because they want to play with the cats. Most of the time it turns into the dogs chasing the cats (go-figure) and then the cats chasing the dogs. We've had the dogs for almost 4 months now and they still get excited when the cats come out. They are all hilarious!

Glad he did good at the vet! :)

cats are my dogs bestfriends!

I have a cat I rescued from my work, mostly because Tonka is obsessed with cats! I have had scrappy the cat for 4 yrs and Tonka is still obsessed with him. He loves to box at him from across the room lol! Scrappy just ignores him, but its pretty funny to watch!

Lol. Cora's first exposure was at night, she passed by a cat on someones driveway didn't even notice it. Last week we went down to a park near some locks (water). There's a house there where I guess the maintenance people live and they have a cat. The tough girl that she is, she wanted to run after it. Can't wasn't even a bit bothered by the dog. We kept walking to pass it. It hissed, she got scared of the cat and ran the other way. This at 7 months.

Dogs best friend

My 10 month old boxer is in love with all cats...she even has one of her own. I rescued a kitten from a shelter on halloween and Charlie has decided that is her baby. My mother came to visit and saw them playing one afternoon and started squealing about the dog trying to eat the cat. We all started laughing and told her that if anything the kitten would prolly hurt the dog. We also have an older cat that doesnt like Charlie so much, but she loves him too. We told her that if she'd pretend to not wanna play with him, that he'd be all over her,...but she just wont listen.

Working on Evie becoming friends with my two cats. She just chases them everytime she see's them, she only wants to play bless her but poor Nancy (Cat) gets scared to death. Alfie (Cat) on the other hand, likes to think he's a bit of a tough guy, he'll just keep smacking her on the head (without claws out) until she gives up, quite funny to watch.

I just wanted to comment on your baby's name. That is my mom's first name! I couldn't believe it when I saw it! She actually goes by her middle name Maxine. She always said she didn't like to be called Max because it sounds like a dog's name LOL. Now I'll have to tell her that she's been wrong all these years. It's her given name that is a dog's name LOL.
She will consider it an honor to have the same name as a boxer. She loves mine with all her heart!

He he, how cute :) We have a cat who was 7 when we brought home an 8wk old Kilby, one of her first acts of business was to bite onto his tail while he was sunbaking and proceed to drag him around the lounge-room (this was day 1). The funniest part was, he actually let her do it!! He LOVES to play with both our girls, he eats the same food, sleeps on their outside beds and waits at the door with them to go potty.... too cute :)

He also wears a harness and leash when we go to the vet (he hates the cages and freaks out) and one time I had all 3 babies there for their check-ups and they were sitting in a row on their harnesses/leashes while I paid the bill. A couple walked in with a cat in a cage and after a couple of minutes the girl exclaimed "oh my god.... that white one's a cat!"
