Ok I just got a response back form that shelter... Its really rather sad...

It wasn't up to me, so I bought them and Boxer rescue of LA is going to reimburse me.
I don't determine how long a dog tstay s athtis shelter, but they always have Boxers and there is another one coming up soon...a male with a tail intact, probably a poorly bred purebred brindle.

Oh Houseofski you are a wonderful person and if there's anything I can do to help you foster this little boy (and the female too if that's not pushing things too far) - I would even be willing to send a donation to help you afford to keep him for as long as possible until a forever home could be found.

Have you tried to contact the Kern County Animal Shelter yet to see if they'll be willing to hold him for you?

Best of luck and the biggest boxer kisses and hugs to you.

i got an e-mail too...it said:

"This shelter ALWAYS has Boxers. It is very sad and we know that there must be backyard breeders in the area. Last week, there were FOUR Boxers there. I believe that they were all owner surrenders.

There is another one coming up soon, so this one is a male, brindle, tail intact, probably poorly bread. Please work on that one! He is pen 10, impound #202783. Please try to get someone to take him. Ursula from Boxer Rescue takes care of about 60 shelters, and if each shelter has four per week....well, you do the math....she will go crazy."

I believe the boy we are trying to save is already gone :(

I have also heard back from the shelter and here's what she said:

This shelter is deluged (sp?) with Boxers on a weekly basis. Last week, there were four purebred Boxers, maybe even five. They were most, if not all, owner surrenders.

We think that there is a backyard breeder in the area who is unscrupulously breeding. It doesn't make it easy for the shelter OR for the rescue to get the amount of Boxers that come into this and the other 60 Southern California area public pounds and humane societies that have to deal with the sheer volume of animals that are coming through their doors.

Please be aware that Boxer Rescue works very hard to rescue as many as they can, but funds and space are always at a premium. If you would like to help financially or in any other way, please contact Ursula, Boxer Rescue; her e-mail is listed above for
contact purposes.

Thank you.

There is no mention of this particular dog and I'm keeping everything I have crossed for him. I emailed Christy back and said that someone had come forward as a possible foster home so hopefully they won't destroy him tomorrow.
