I'm sorry this happened to Sasha, poor baby! I can honestly say I know how you feel... our new rescue Logan was also attacked at the dog park about 3 weeks ago: http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59852

I hope this did not traumatize your baby. The owner of the other dog, out of common courtesy, should've offered to pay for your vet bills. We're sending Sasha some healing kidney bean dances! She'll heal in no time. Don't give up on socializing her though. Hugs!!! Keep us updated.

Hope your baby Sasha is feeling better soon. Boomer and Abbey send lots of healing licks and cuddles her way.
This woman is unbelievable..as Rlf Giraffe said it's not about the money, it's about taking responsibility for your pet.
I had a dog once that attacked and killed a neighbours dog (unprovoked) and a stray cat, and although it was painful for me I had to do the responsible thing and put him to sleep, cause how would I know it wouldn't happen again, and if it had been my dog that was killed I'd expect the owner to do the same thing.
It's all part of being a responible dog owner.
I just hope that woman doesn't let it happen again...once is bad enough.
Anyway, I hope your baby is back in action again very soon. Take care.

Awwwww.....

Mush sends big licks to Sasha's boo-boos. We stopped going to the dog parks a few years ago. One of my dals was attacked by a crazy little Jack Russell once and I couldn't get this dog off. The owner just stood there squirting water on it with a small little squirt bottle. My dal kept trying to just get away, but this little Russell held on to her neck for dear life. Hubby finally got the Russell off, incurring a few teeth marks on his hands, and still the owner just stood there. I was soooo pissed. Then another time, we took the dogs to a different park and as soon as we got there I saw this unusually tall dog that I immediately realized was a wolf hybrid, running around off it's leash. Beautiful dog, but from what I've read they can be very unpredictable. So we just turned around and left and we never go to dog parks anymore. PLUS, a friend of mine took her Ridgebacks to a dog park once, and one of them wound up with neumonia (sp?) and her vet said she probably picked it up from the dog park. As much as I love the idea of letting my dogs run free and play, it's just not safe enough for me.

Kisses and healing thoughts to Sasha....and bad voo-doo's to the nasty ole dog that bit her....

While I feel that everyone has the right to exercise thier dog, I have shared the horror of witnessing my dog in a skirmish that it did not provoke. In a perfect world, people with dogs with agressive tendencies would muzzle thier dogs! My heart goes out to you and Sasha. Hopefully your emotional wounds will heal as fast as her boo-boos.

My Tracer was attacked by ball-agressive poodle. (Much taunting from my parents on this one... it was a STANDARD poodle!) I was angry that the owner would bring a tennis ball to the park when she knew "he gets a little funny around his toys." It was so muddy that I didn't realize that he had broken the skin until I got her in the tub that night.

As for getting the pnuemonia from visiting the park, upper respiratory diseases are easily transmitted amongst dogs anywhere they come in contact together: parks, walks, pet-friendly stores, the vets office.

I am so sorry that this has happened. I hope Sasha will recovery from this ordeal. Healing vibes from all of mine to Sasha.

We do not go to the park because of these happenings. Some people ruin everything for others.

Thanks so much for all of the well wishes and for sharing your stories....i must admit i feel a bit better knowing this is not an uncommon situation and all of your babies were fine. My concern is how this will affect her both with other strange dogs and socialization....b/c truth be told i am sure we will go back to the park again!~ Odd thing is....even though she is skinny and lanky...she is SOO overprotective of mommy and daddy and acts completely vicious around other people/dogs in our neighborhood....we are shocked she was pretty much submissive.....even though to a much bigger dog....we thought she was far more aggressive because of her temperment. Makes me realize what a little 'daddy's girl' she really is .....i feel so bad for her!
However she is fine tonight....roughhousing as usual with Telmar ...have heard a couple of winces as i know she is tender in places....but just seemed content to sleep most of the day away which is normal after going to the park....ate fine and is asleep on daddy's lap! Vet said just to keep an eye on the deep punctures for now....
Sloppy kisses back to you all!

Poor Sasha! I am still amazed at the lack of responsibility with some dog owners. If it happened, well there is nothing you can do about it at that point, but at least try to make ammends by giving your info and paying any vet costs. What comes around goes around.

So glad to hear that Sasha is doing well!! Hopefully, you will return to the dog park with no further unpleasant incidents like that. Too bad there aren't bark park police!! I suppose the only thing we can hope for is that there are more responsible dog owners than not.
