I am so angry right now! Hubby and I took Sasha to the dog park (piedmont park) and she was attacked within 5 minutes by what looked like a shepard/retreiver mix named Deuce.....probably 80-85 pounds. Both I and his mom were right there when it happened....I of course was trying to break it up ( i know i should not but motherly instincts kick in when someone is hurting your baby....Sasha was on her back and this dog was biting her left and right....His mom just kept casually saying his name....AS
IF SHE WAS USED TO HIS BEHAVIOR!! Sasha finally got away and he chased her to the end of the park and she came running to us. He tried to scuffle with her a bit more ( I was shocked hubby did not kick the dog to be honest!!)....Anyhow...she was bleeding from her jaw and her top hindquarters....visable teeth marks in both places so i went to ask his mom were his shots up to date and she replied 'Yes..why?" I told her Sasha had been bitten and she just sat there....'oh really'...'oh i', sorry"....I told her we were going to have to take her to the vet and she just stared at the ground!! I was SO pissed....did not offer her number or anything....I would not only have given my name and number but offered to pay the ENTIRE vet bill!! Needless to say my little white princess has two other gashes that we did not see until we got to the car....She looks pitiful with big blood gashes all over her pretty white fur!! I am so angry....I have read and read about this happening to other people but was so grateful that was ONE experience we had never had!!
Needing good boxer vibes this way to fight off infections!!

Lisa, I am soooo sorry this happened! We have cut back on our visits to the park bc of the inevitable dumb people there that allow things like this to happen. I will keep Sasha in my thoughts and I hope she doesn't have any lasting effects from being attacked.

I don't recognize this dog+owner, but if/when we go back I will certainly watch for them. Farley came close to being hurt the last time we were there, actually by another boxer. I had to gather him up quickly and get out of there.

thats ridiculous! i can't believe how irresponsible this "lady" was! some people don't deserve to have pets! i hope Sasha is ok.. we're sending ((((((((HEALING VIBES)))))))) your way.

Ohhh positive healing vibes to Sasha!

My Hanney-girl was attacked by our neighbor's dog a few years back and had six locations on her body that were punctured. They were small incisions so the vet cleaned them, had us keep her quiet, and bring her back for two follow up appointments. Hannah was a golden retriever and the vet said her hair helped protect her from this dog - I'm not sure the breed of the attacker, it was a small mix. The neighbor put her dog to sleep after this as this was her dogs 6th reported, but 9th, attack. Her son actually made her put him to sleep, she wasn't going to, and he paid for all of Hannah's vet bills for us.

It was very nerve wracking and I know how you feel. Give Sasha some love from Mason and actually he sends some to you too. lovicon

I am soooo sorry this happened! If you ever want to meet up with 2 friendly guys let me know--I would love Cassius and Otto to have play time
Let us know all is well

Poor Sasha! Willis sends her some friendly licks. Hope she's feeling better soon. That lady should have paid for everything; it's not really about the money, it's taking responsibility for her pet. I can't believe she wouldn't be concerned enough to at least give you her phone number.... Anyway, the important thing is that Sasha will be ok.

Poor baby Sasha - a whole bunch of boxer healing vibes to you!!

How awful for you to have this terrible experience. I would be horrified by the whole thing; your Sasha getting attacked, and the owner of the dog attacking not caring about anything, being so nonchalant!! I just do not understand where people like this are coming from.

That lady was unbelievable. She should be paying for your vet bills.

Poor Sasha!! Too bad you didn't get that woman's name and phone number. Something similar happened to us a few years back with one of my dogs and he subsequently developed an abcess which required vet. care and antibiotics. If I had gotten the owner's name, I certainly would have reported their dog to the proper local authorities and gotten reimbursement for the vet bills. Agressive dogs like that should not be allowed to roam free! Hope Sasha feels better so - Cathy
