For potential raw feeders, or those who just want to know how dogs cope with feeding raw, chewing bones, whether it's messy or just want to know what sorts of items raw fed dogs consume - this is the thread to see it all in action :)

Here people can post pictures and videos of their raw fed dogs consuming their food. We hope it will be a useful resource.

For those with questions: please don't post them in this thread. That isn't its purpose, and would limit its value. Instead, start a new thread for your specific queries, where you would be much more likely to get useful responses.

My dogs have always eaten right next to each other.....never had a problem! :)

No, kitty is not on a raw diet....she eats Felidae......but I do almost always give her a little bite or two of the raw when the dogs eat...and if they drop any little piece of meat, she's right there to grab it!

Hey this is a great idea! People are always worried about the mess when they first start raw (me included when I first tried it!)

Our dogs eat side by side too and most of the time there is never a problem. When we first tried it Leia use to sneak Luke's food when we weren't looking:( but she is better now. We just put more space between them!

Here's one of Henri with a raw meal. What is in his bowl is a mix of offal and chicken drumsticks (very easily consumed stuff - I'll have to get another video sometime of him dealing with more substantial items that actually require a little work ;)). He has some nice sound-effects there though ;)

Great video, Gmacleod! Henri certainly looks like a pro. Those were fantastic sound effects too... the first time I gave Hurricane a chicken leg I about had a heart attack when he crunched down on the bone at first. I don't know why I wasn't expecting it but it startled me. :) I thought he had broken a tooth or something :LOL:

Well, I guess it depends on the size of item. Henri doesn't normally eat outside by the pool, incidentally ;) He was just fed there for the purpose of taking the video (better light, etc). Normally he eats indoors. But unless it's a large item needing lots of chewing, the food doesn't leave the bowl except to enter the mouth. I'd say he would handle anything up to/including a chicken quarter without it touching the ground.

A whole chicken frame, turkey leg or rack of ribs would be a bit different - he'd take that out the bowl and rest it on the ground whilst chewing. But he's not going to drag it around or anything like that. Just giving him a towel (per Keeroff's videos) is quite satisfactory for keeping things tidy.
