I am so truly PROUD of you! You are kicking this habbit right where it counts!!!!

I am having setbacks, I can't seem to get past the three day mark. I am going to try a different approach, cold turkey is just not working for me after that first slip. I still WANT to quit, I refuse to quit quitting. One day at a time I will beat this nasty dirty addiction. I REFUSE to be a closet smoker hiding it from friends and family..

Way to go Deb, You rock!!!!!!

Hey Jenn....sorry to hear you are still having tough bouts with the Nic-o-demon...he is a nasty creature...I hate 'im!! I can't really recommend the Wellbutrin after it made me about half crazy with those aniexty thingies...what are you considering? Is there anything I can do to help? I still feel like I am on shakey ground at times and I could re-lapse at any moment because Lord knows I still think about them. It's like you said though just one day at a time...then on to the next one...we ARE quitters and we are proud of it so you just keep right on quittin' and quittin' and one day you won't have to quit anymore! YOU'll make it...I know you can. But it is darned hard isn't it?? :( djk

thank you Deb

Well honestly, I have no idea what to do.. I can't do Wellbutrin, cause that gives me liscense to start full blown again even temporaily. I don't like the patch or gum, I think I am going to start over AGAIN, and make it stick, but that is what I said 3 days ago. I keep floating half full packs of cigarettes, at least I have the resolve to do that. It is soooo hot here that I just sit alone for two hours after work WAITING for it to cool off enough to do anything. A major change has to take place during that time.. I truly appreciate your concern and offer of help, but short of bonking me on the head every 3 days, it is all up to me to find some strength SOMEWHERE!!

I know you feel like you are teetering, but girl listen to me, if you do start again, it is going to be more frequently, and HARDER to make that first step again. Learn from my mess up!!!!

Deb - CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU GO GIRL!! I am so proud of you, you have done a great job. My day is looming closer, this weekend you know. I'm sweating just thinking about it ;) Can't wait to join you though. How good does it feel to wake up each morning a NONsmoker? I bet it feels like a million bucks!

Jenn - hang in there, I'm about to join you--you can do this girl!

Thanks gang! According to my quit meter:
3 weeks 6 hours and 31 minutes
$43.87 saved
319 cigarettes NOT smoked
1 day 3 hours and 35 minutes of life saved.

My tough times are in the evening too but the frozen water bottles help....I wait until it is frozen around the edges but still liquid in the center..then I pound in on the counter and break the ice up into pieces...it is hard to get those ice pieces out of the little opening in the bottle..gotta work at it..keeps your hands, mouth and mind all busy at the same time...which helps. It really does feel good to make it through each day...remember I have not quit "forever"....it's just that for TODAY i will not smoke..we'll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow! Hang in there Jenn...see ya this weekend Aimee.....Jill ???;) djk

Okay, now $43.87 doesn't sound like a heck of a lot of money for 319 cigarettes, how does that meter work? Do you enter in how much you pay per pack in the beginning and tell how much you smoke a day? Inquiring minds want to know :p

Congrats Deb!!

You are doing very well. I am Sooo proud of you.

I am still working on being prepared for June 10th "Freedom from the Demon Day" that Health Canada set for me. I actually feel quite ready this time, as even when I do have a smoke now, I am asking myself why I am lighting up, and I am not totally enjoying it. I am drinking TONS of ice cold water and I think spending so much time running to the toilet is taking my mind off having a smoke :D (Maybe this is the key!! ) I have finally after much begging convinced my husband to join me in quitting. This should make it somewhat easier, as he has not ever gone along with me before. (If I suddenly disappear could you all send out a search party? Two quitters on nerves edge in one household may not be a "Good Thing" ;) )

Jenn it is truly one day at a time, and if you are making it 3 days in a row before you fail again, then that is 3 days each time of less nicotine in your body. Soon it will be 4 days and so on. I think we just all expect that we will be free of this overnight. You will do it, just stick with what you are doing. I am going the cold turkey way as well, it can be done, I have seen it. My dad smoked for 50+ years and quit cold turkey. How? One day at a time, tons of candies in his pocket, and a VERY patient family that put up with his shall we say not so pleasant attitude ;) During that 2 hours you sit at home waiting, is it possible to be somewhere else during part of that time? The mall maybe? That may help damper the crunch time you have right now.

Aimee, You will do it!! Just plan something totally different to your normal pattern this weekend that will take your mind off of lighting up. Keep us posted.
