Good job! Kind of off the subject a teeny bit but $7.68 for 53 cig's not smoked is cheap! Out of curiousity, how much is a pack where you are? When I quit 2 years ago they were up to about $6 in NYC and between $4 - 5 in the suburbs where I am.

Well done to you! My Dad suffered terrible nightmares when he packed it up., But he put it down to the nicotine patches?!

Marybeth: $2.95 - $3.25 per pack and about $25 for a carton which I find to be completely insane. I can't imagine spending $6! When I first started smoking, they were more like $1 - $1.25 a pack. On my stat meter I input $2.95 because that is the most recent price I paid for Marlboro 72's.

Busters Mum: thanks...fortunately I haven't had that happen except that one time. I have used the patches in the past but didn't have nightmares, just couldn't sleep well.

I"m telling you this Smoke Away stuff is awesome..either that or I am just more mentally prepared this time than I ever have been because I am not having any trouble sleeping, no disturbances in my sleep, I'm not overly hungry and I am far less irritable then I have been in past attempts. I certainly have my moments where I want to smoke & crave hard but I just switch my thoughts & drink a huge glass of water and it passes.

You go girl!!! I am really impressed. I know how proud you must be - you deserve a big pat on the back. Celebrate, too. Reward yourself every couple of weeks if you can. A CD, DVD, perfume, lipstick, whatever. Just something for a job well done.

How's your husband doing with it?

Thank you Coco'smommy. I've been eyeing that Smoke Away kit at Wal-Mart for a couple weeks now. Just didn't know if it would really help or not. Patches didn't. It's time for me to kick this thing too. I'm really scared about it, isn't that stupid. Scared. I get a feeling of dread just thinking about it. But I want to live a long healthly life and enjoy grandkids someday. And I can't afford it anymore. A pack of smokes here in Michigan is 5 bucks or more  I have managed to cut back on a few everyday, but I want to stop totally! P.S. CONGRATS TO YOU ON YOUR SUCCESS!

Thanks!!!

Thanks you guys! I appreciate all the well wishes, the more support, the better is goes.

Hubby isn't doing as well. He has caved and been smoking at work, etc. I just told him that what he does is his choice, of course I wish he wouldn't but ultimately it's up to him. However, the catch is that he CANNOT smoke in the house or car or anywhere around me. I'm too afraid of risking what I have worked really hard for these last couple of weeks. Besides that, I think it's a respect thing, ya know? He has been very good about not even acting like he was gonna smoke around me or where I knew of it so God Bless him..lol :)

T&S: I have to say that I thought the "Smoke Away" worked great for me. It may not work for everyone but frankly I believe if you have the right mind set, it will help you. I really wanted to kick this thing and I feel like I have a good hold on my quit. It wasn't easy and the first week was pretty rough but this second week has been awesome! I'm even getting to the point that I don't think about it near as often as I was. Just fleeting thoughts from time to time. I am done with the kit and am using nothing now. I don't need it either. Yesterday was the first day I didn't think about having a smoke after dinner. Yay..that was a milestone. I already got over having one while driving. Each day gets better and better and easier and easier. I would love to work through this with you if you want. It's important to have support too.

Thanks again you guys! Have a great day! :D

Read Me

Congrats to you!!! I just stopped in December myself. This is going to sound crazy and it did to me as well but trust me...k, here goes...I stopped smoking after reading a book that was recommended to my husband by someone who stopped after 40+years by reading this book. I know, I said the same thing, how can a book make you stop smoking must be scare tactics (its not)?? but guys, i am telling you my husband stopped, I stopped, and my mom who has been smoking for probably about 30+ years stopped as well. The book is called the easy way to stop smoking written by Allen Carr. The guy has clinics around the world and is a bit egotistic in the book but what he says worked for me. For about 10bucks you can get the paperback on Amazon and may be able to get a used one for cheaper..Diane, if your husband is having difficulty I strongly recommend getting this book.

Congratulations to all who quit. appicon
Quit IS a good thing. Especially around dogs. They suffer a lot with smoking in the house.
I never did, but my DH did and had help from a medicine his doc prescribed.

Did you guys knew that cigarettes have sugar on it? And sugar and nicotine are addictive? Pretty strong stuff...

Congratulations everyone!!!appicon

Hurray!!! I started smoking when I was 12 or 13, smoked for 3-4 years, it was really easy for me to quit though..it just meant eating a lot of candy. So ive been smoke free for about 2 1/2 years. Lately though, Ive been craving cigarettes. I think its because Ill be older enough to buy them for myself next monday, so theyll be easier to access but hopefully i'll stick to my guns. Congrats to everyone whos quitting!

My Mom was a heavy smoker her whole life, then she went in for surgery a few yrs ago and the doctor asked my Mom what the one thing she wanted was and she said to quit smoking. She came out of surgery, and hasnt had a cigarette since and she smoked or about 30 years!

BTW..2.50-3.25 for cigarettes!? Wow! Ours are around 9$ a pack
