Count me as somebody who doesn't know what you're talking about. There is no "pure American boxer line." They're all descended from the same handful of German imports in the 1930s.

Check the various pedigree databases and find a dog that doesn't pass through Bangaway, let alone Sirgurd, Dorian, Utz and Lustig. (And I'm keeping things historical -- there are certainly bottlenecks through certain dogs in the last 15 years that are nearly as pronounced).

I was watching animal precinct and they had broken up a dog fighting ring in detroit. one of the pit bulls they found had a brick tied to it's neck also, the animal cops said that dog fighters do this to increase the muscle mass of the fighting dog and keep it from getting hurt while fighting. I personally would be very worried if i talked to someone who said they did that to a boxer!
