Probably looked like a fool to passersby!

Yesterday on part of our walking route a truck crossed our path that was leaking either gasoline or kerosene....left a huge mess of it right in the road we cross....absolutely no way to get around it, unless we jumped. So here I am, picking up my 60lb baby just so I can carry him across an area that is about a foot wide....but who knows how long. I of course forgot about this area until we came across it again today, here I am again, picking up my baby going & coming so he won't get any of that "stuff" on his little feetsies! So, I am sure I looked like a fool to passersby carrying my baby for about a foot....but I don't want him to get anything on his feet that could be toxic. Something I know my fellow Boxerlovers here at BW would only understand.

O Jessica - - we completely understand and YES we would be doing that too :D Just picturing me carrying my Adam over something like that made me really laugh LOL!!!

Yep, I'm with you! I've been known to pick up my 75 pound boy and carry him... I look strange I'm sure. I woudn't want gas on their feet either! They're like kitty cats and they clean themselves... no one wants their babies eating gas!!

Sounds like me the other day because Abby was scared of the wooden santa in the yard. I picked her up to show her he was just wood and not an intruder! Silly girl.

yep sounds like something i would have done too. i wouldnt want to take a chance on them getting anything on their feet or licking something that could hurt them...

i would of done the same thing.. i wouldnt want something like that to get all over her paws.. it would smell bad and would hurt her and make her sick... i've already carried her over a bunch of stuff before too.. haha

I have to do this with Samson every time it rains! You know when the rain collects and makes a river type thing along the sidewalk? Well Samson will NOT walk through it, he will stare at it and walk back and forth looking for a safe passageway... well I hate to stand out in the rain and wait for him to find that passageway so I end up just picking him up and carrying him over the "river"... not too good for my back either, but the things I must do because Samson is soooo afraid of water!

Absolutely....I would do the same thing rather than Grunt walking through something toxic. Those "rivers" that happen after a downpour are usually small enough for both of us to hop over, as he will definitely not walk through them. So far, I haven't had to pick him up to carry him anywhere, but I would do it in a minute if I had to. Weight bearing exercise is good for us!!

I would have done the same thing too! I'm sure it was quite a sight

I pick Toffee's back-end up to put her in the SUV I have too..... she puts her front feet in and up on the seat, then turns and looks at me as if to say, "Okay, Mommy, I'm ready." And then I pick the rest of her up and in she goes. I am sure it is quite amusing to those who see it, LOL!
