Ginger's bone biopsy

First of all my thanks to you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Ginger made it through the biopsy just fine! The vet said her EKG was good, her heart is strong and normal. Her bloodwork is within all the normal ranges, so all of her organs look fine. We decided not to do the chest x-ray, because things are really hard to see in the lungs, unless they are too far gone (and she'd be showing signs--which she isn't). But thankfully her overall health looks great!

The vet got a good sample of bone, and while he was in there, he also got some soft tissue samples to send to pathology too. So now we wait for the results....

I just picked her up from the vet's office, she is still quite a bit groggy. Even through that, she was happy to see me. She is resting comfortably in her favorite spot (on top of an A/C floor vent). Dexter was happy to see her come home too--he almost knocked her down with all his "kidney beaning"!

I feel so relieved that we made it through this biopsy! I know this is far from over, but now we'll have some answers on what we're dealing with. We thank you for all of your support through this! Please continue to think about us as we wait for the results!!!

Hugs to you all!

I'm so glad to hear that everything went well with Ginger's bone biopsy. Waiting for the report is always the worst, but you'll make it. Just keep saying your prayers and stay positive. That's most important. Give Ginger lots of hugs from Colby and Skye and don't forget Dexter, too! Keep us posted!

still waiting.....

Just a quick update.... still no word on the biopsy results yet. I had really hoped to hear something today, but ..... as they say, maybe no news is good news.

I'm trying to stay strong and positive, but it can be hard sometimes. The waiting is absolutely killing me. The good news is that Ginger is doing great. The vet sent us home with some pain medicine and antibiotics, and she seems to really feel good. She has played everynight, and that really makes me feel a lot better. She has the most beautiful "happy face"!!! :)

Again, thanks to you all! I will keep you posted.

I know how hard this is. I thought I was going to go insane, waiting for Cadence's biopsy results. Just try to take it day by day. Fill your day with fun things to do, like taking Ginger and Dexter to a park. I tried very hard not to focus on the phone ringing (or not ringing for that matter) and just tried to go about my normal, every day life. It's so hard, though! We got our results back in a week, exactly. Torture! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Ginger's results come back fine. Colby and Skye send her lots of
(((((((((((((healing))))))))))))))))))))) wiggles!!!

Nicole, I cannot thank you (and your babies) enough for your kind support. I read Cadence's story before I posted my original post. I think about what you must have gone through, and I'm really inspired by your courage and love for Cadence. You are right, this is VERY hard to deal with, but just knowing that someone else has been through it, and other people are going through it too.... being able to share stories, good and bad, makes it easier.

Ginger and Dexter are very special to me, and it's nice to be in a place where people love their furkids as much as I love mine! (For years I thought I was crazy!) But I know I'm not alone... your well wishes mean so much! I'm soooo sorry you lost Cadence, but I thank you so much for sharing your story, I know it was hard.

I am trying to think about all the good times we've had, and I'm trying to enjoy the 'smile' on her face when she plays. I love seeing her smile!! I'm trying to wait patiently... funny you mention the phone, because every time it rings, my heart skips a beat. But we're trying to wait patiently!!!

Thanks again to you and Cadence! We're sending hugs to Colby and Skye (hope she is well after her chicken feast!), and special hugs to you!

ONE piece of GOOD NEWS!

Hi everyone!

I just got home from visiting my vets office... ONE of Ginger's biopsy results is in... it is NEGATIVE for any neoplasia (tumor growth)!!

From what I understood (the vet was gone, I talked to a tech), this was the original needle-type aspiration that they looked at. It showed up negative. Now they are going to look at slides of the bone to see if they can see anything... if that is negative, we will culture the samples. Truth is, I really don't know what all she said, because all I heard was "negative". I'll go in and talk to the vet on saturday.

What a great BIG boxer sigh of relief! I know we are not out of the woods on this thing yet, and it still could turn out bad, but as of now, it's negative. I hate to get my hopes too high, because we still don't know what we're dealing with, but I feel like I can breathe now!

A great big thanks to you all for your thoughts and prayers! Ginger sends sweet kisses too, for the get well wishes from her friends! Please keep us in your thoughts, as this isn't over yet.... we can't thank you enough!!!!
