Josi continues to do well...I plan to take her for her first small walk just down to the end of the street and see how she does. The cariologist called in Sotolal for her to start which I gave her the first half about an hour ago. Hopefully this will help calm her arrithymia's so she gains some of her energy back. I spoke again with the oncologist here in Charlotte and told her that the chemo protocal was half the price at NCstate and explained that while I don't want to drive six hours in one day, it was worth it to us to save about $700 a session. She was shocked saying they actually sell the zinecard at cost for $500 a vial due to how expensive it is (can you imagine any drug costing 500 bucks a vial)!!! Well after further evaluation, she realized that she miss calculated the dosing based on Josi's weight. She said she is at the top of the scale so I need to keep miss thing at her slim and trim weight of 60lbs. This is a definite relief to us because if we go ahead and try a dosing, we can drop her off in the morning (20 minute drive) and they would call when she is ready to go home. I asked the doctor to pencil us in for Wed. so if she exhibits side effects they will come on the weekend (they say 2-5 days after chemo) and I would call her on Monday to give her our final decision. Brian and I want to see how she progresses this weekend and we want to be 100% confident in our decision either way. Apparently I am still looking for a sign from Josi...I will post again later:)

Josi and her mommy & daddy decided to have a slumber party over at grandma and grandpa's house for a much needed change of scenery. As always Josi is in heaven over here and walked around outside for awhile enjoying the koi pond and just being her old self. She even walked up a few flights of stairs which is a first. Last night she did get really stiff probably from all the moving she did, but we will see how today goes. She definitely enjoyed curling up next to the fireplace all night. We will probably head home in a little bit so I will post later.

Oh how fun, sounds like a great time. Glad to hear that Josi is improving and you all are hanging in there. Great news about someone watching her during the wedding, sounds like she will be in great hands. Keep your chins up and be happy. We are still praying for Josi and your family. Give your girl some hugs from us.

Josi had a restful day...mommy and daddy had to finally go back to work, but I did sneak home for almost a two hour lunch break and it was almost 70 here so we just sat outside on her bed and enjoyed the sunshine. I spoke with the oncologist tonight about her lethargy and she seems to think it is from the FCE and will improve. While ofcourse I hope that is true, I do not want to make the decision to attempt to extend her life with chemo if she is just resigned to laying around...that is not her and it wouldn't be fair of me. On the otherhand I have to trust the doctors that she will continue to improve, but we don't have that time to wait to make these decisions and it is just killing me. I spoke to our local vet also and he suggested for us to not give her a gabapentin (neuro pain drug) and see how she is doing in 24 hrs. If no change then we can rule out the pain med. Then he said he didn't get a report of updated blood work so he said this needs to be done to make sure it is not the cancer causing anemia/weakness. I will update tomorrow

Thanks for posting kind words along with your experience in my thread regarding Cane. Cane also collapsed the tuesday before Xmas, so it seems our families are on the same path.

I am glad to hear that josi is enjoying herself as much as possible, as is Cane, but it still beaks my hear to look at him and know the time is short.

My warm fuzzy thoughts go out to you, josi, and the rest of your family during this difficult and uncertain time.
