I will be saying a prayer for Josi tonight. It was weird, when I was reading your very first post this morning, I thought of her spleen immediately but then I figured that wasn't what was going on or the vets would have already diagnosed it. That is what I lost my Tossie from, we opted to not do the surgery because she was so weak and suffering so we decided to let her leave instead of putting her through surgery when the vet said she probably wouldn't make it, she was almost 13 years old too.

I will ask Tossie to keep an eye on Josi too, she will help her out. Please keep us updated on her, I know she will pull through.

My mother just lost her 11, almost 12, year old boxer from a tumour on the spleen. Thank God Josi's was able to be removed. I will pray that she recovers quickly from this.

Just heard from the ER doctor that was suggesting putting Josi to sleep yesterday due to her grave condition, that she has seen a christmas miracle this morning:) Not more than 12 hours after having her spleen removed, she said Josi was already up and walking around ICU and had gone to the bathroom and they were getting ready to try and feed her. She even said that with the surgeon's approval that they think Josi will actually be coming home tonight! She is such a fighter and her love for life continues to amaze me everyday. Josi's blood pressure is now over 100 and her blood count is still low, but the doctor said that is expected since she lost so much yesterday and just had a transfusion. They did a smear slide of the spleen and said that they did see mast cells in it, but not significant numbers especially since Josi does have mast cells. They are hoping that it was benign and just a very unlucky occurence. All your wonderful prayers and vibes have been heard and can't thank you all enough. Continue to keep her in your thoughts for a speedy and healthy recovery and most importantly that the tumor was benign.
