What a grand welcome back it must have been to see Miss Josi thriving!! I was kind of worried too :o! I'm so glad everything worked out with your sitter - and how wonderful that he worked with Josi and kept you informed daily with pics and progress reports! And you were both able to enjoy your special happening as well........it can't get much better than that! :) You deserved it ALL!! Josi, hang in there little girl, we are rooting for you.

so glad to here that Josi did well during your trip. i was so hoping everything would go on without a hitch for you. we lost our boy Dakota to hemangiosarcoma a few years ago. unfortunately my husband wasn't able to be with us for Dakota's last day here on earth. hubby had just left for a business trip the night before and arrived at his destination the very same day that Dakota really took a turn for the worse. there was no possible way for hubby to get home and he made me promise not to prolong Dakota's suffering. he and I were literally on the phone the ENTIRE NIGHT into the wee hours of the morning. i had to make the dreaded decision and take care of things on my own. it was very difficult not having my husband (my best friend) with me and Dakota.
I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS THAT JOSI DID WELL while you were away.
the more i kept up with reading this thread ..... the more worried i was for you. it brought back tons of memories for me. the anticipation of the trip, etc. I can't tell you how excited i was to see that you came back to a much improved Josi.
BIG SIGH OF RELIEF HERE.
i don't mean to be a downer by sharing all this information but telling you all this is the only way to convey how worried i was for you guys!
congratulations on your marriage and the start of a beautiful life together...forever.
SO HAPPY ALL WENT WELL FOR YOU BOTH and most of all that Josi is doing so well!!!!!!!!!!!!
hugs hugs hugs hugs hugs to all of you.....and extra ones for Josi, too.

I'm so glad the wedding went well, and that Miss Josie is thriving. I, too, was getting a little concerned. You are very blessed to have had someone willing and able to see to her needs while you were away. I know you worried about her, but I imagine you felt better knowing that she was in capable hands.

Congratulations on the start of a brand, new life.

I haven't been on the site lately.....

We woke up this morning to Josi hardly breathing...her gums were gray and she didn't even have the energy to move a limb. We rushed her to the emergency room where they gave her oxygen and fluids immediately. They hooked her up to an EKG thinking this may be related to her cardiomyopathy, but the cardiologist said her heart seemed to be doing fine. The chest xray showed no fluid, but her heart and artieries were small and they had trouble finding her blood pressure. Their initial possible diagnosis was addison's disease, but after her bloodwork came back it showed her platelet count was down to only 30,000 when it should be in the upper 200,000 range. They currently have her in ICU awaiting a abdomnel scan, with IV fluids and she is wrapped in warming blankets which have brought her temperature up from 95 to 98. They have taken her off the oxygen, but she looked so weak and her gums appeared to still be quite white. Our next visit to ICU is not until 6:30 tonight, but hopefully we will hear from the internist before then with some promising news. Her low platelet count can be caused by so many different things they said and I'm hoping her mast cell cancer that has been acting benignly for the past two years has not reared its ugly head to cause this. Please send her some of your wonderful prayers and boxerworld vibes. Josi has fought through so many things over the years and we know that she will do her best to get through this as well. I will post with more info when I get some news...

I just read your message about Josi and it is terrible what is happening to her I pray she will be fine and get well soon. Sportsnutim

Just wanted to post and let you all know that Josi had a great day today...we took her over to her grandparents house which she just adores. Grandma could not get over how good she looked and noted that she had her spirit back! She has begun to whine for food a little bit which is new, but I am sure it is the prednisone. We haven't increased the 10mg. dosage daily, so hopefully that behavior won't increase....any thoughts?

Happy to hear that Josi is doing well. Don't know about the prednisone or whether her appetite will continue to increase or not but i'm sure someone else on here might have some experience with this. You keep make Mom proud Josi :)

Glad Josi had a good day. Prednisone takes some time to build in the system, so the new whining could definitely be b/c she is hungrier now with the Pred. She is on a pretty low dose so all fingers crossed a bit of hungriness is the only side effect she experience.

So do you think I need to start feeding her more???? I am homecooking for her and she is getting roughly 300gms. twice daily and then 2tbsp. of cottage cheese/flax seed oil twice daily plus all her daily mini snacks!
