DENALIGIRL
Boxer Buddy
Boy do I know how that is...Zoey acts as if we don't feed her. She can eat about 8 cups of food a day (now that she is on a homemade diet) and still want more! I am going through hamburger, jack mackerel, salmon, and chicken breasts like crazy!!! I go to the store and buy up all of their canned "no salt" green beans, asparagus, spinach, collard greens, mustard greens, etc., ...people think I'm crazy with a cart full of this stuff..
Also, her appetite was out of control. She was constantly begging for food and she would raid the garbage if we forgot to put it outside. !!!
I am so glad to hear that Lola is feeling better, Zoey has major yeast issues but since trying this Seacure and other goodies her body seems to be changing...the yeasty paws are lightening up and her body and ear (yes just the one ear) don't have that yeasty smell anymore. So how does Lola like the homecooked compared to other diets you have tried? Isn't Flagyl an antibiotic? I have to wonder about putting these dogs with comprimised immune systems on antibiotics...how about Prebiotics?
I can almost guarantee that any commerical diet cannot compare to a good homemade diet Zoey has been on homemade for a little over 2 months now and she seems to be coming around.
As for the Seacure, I have the article saved in my archives but don't know how to post it. I wish we could private message... you can always do some research on the internet, that's how I came across the link. I was grasping at straws desperate to find something to help put weight on her...now that I am slowly doing that, I can get back on track with finding out what is causing the pancreatitis.
A1r1ka - don't dismiss what you are thinking about his condition being caused by what he went through at such a young age. (Read my post to Althea about "worried Boxer mama after vaccinations" - I don't mean to toot my own horn but I can't speak loudly enough to these vets about my concerns). My latest holistic vet is being written off as we speak. I asked for him to run a thryoid panel test with Dr. Dodds (W. Jean Dodds) but he isn't interested in doing that...they pretty much told me they will not do it. Holistic vets are pretty scarce in our area but I am lucky enough to have another resource about 40 mins away...and they are willing to establish a relationship and draw the blood for my testing with Dr. Dodds. Persistence - because I know there is a direct link to what is going on with my baby and what happened to her as a puppy. She hasn't been right since. I mean she isn't unhappy or hasn't had a terrible life but her issues she is dealing with would make even a human being a little stir crazy...it's just my gut instinct. There is a definitive reason Papi is not eating...and if it's not pancreatitis it is something related to a higher fat diet...but everything you are explaining makes me believe it is pancreatitis. The only thing with pancreatitis is that it is usually a secondary condition to something else. Since he has had more than one episode, I would think his is considered chronic and not acute? With Chronic pancreatitis there are other GI problems that would need to be ruled out...kind of like what we are going through.
It's a process...hang in there and don't give up!
by the name of Dr. Jodie, I have heard nothing but terrific things about her and am looking forward to meeting her. The last vet wouldn't run the test with Dr. Dodds but was willing to send to Cornell or Michigan St. I said thanks but no thanks...I have specific reasons for wanting to go with Dr. Dodds. Have you been to her website? The hemolife one...very encouraging. They use a new technology (with a patent pending mind you) and their thyroid panel is by far superior to other labs. The fact that she is continously updating her panel to add in multi-facets leads me to surmise she is very dedicated to her work and her cause. Will it help us, I am not sure yet but I believe it can't hurt.
