Ozzy's Kidneys are Failing =[

Ozzy, my 5 year old boxer went to the vet on Friday. He hadn't eaten for a week, was guzzling water, and vomiting. Also urinating alot. The vet did some bloodwork and called me the next morning. He told me Ozzy's kidneys are failing and to bring him in imidiatley. He gave him some shots and said to bring him in for the next 3 days for the same shots, then tomarrow we will do more bloodwork. If the bloodwork has worsened since Friday...he said that Ozzy will slowly deterierate. Within 1 to 6 months. There is a chance he will survive, but a slim one. The dr said if he does survive, he will have to be on a strict kidney diet for the rest of his life. But in the end, his kidneys will be what kills him. I can't believe this is happening. The vet said it was unusual because he is only 5 years old. Please pray for Ozzy, I know I am....I dont want to lose my baby. He's too young. I love him so much, I dont know what to think right now =[

I am sorry for the pain you are feeling.

Two and a half years ago, my first boxer died at seven from kidney failure. She was only born with one kidney.

I never noticed she was sick until two months prior to her death. She also drank alot and urinated a lot. She also vomited often. My vet did not think of kidney at first either due to her age.

I don't have any ideas on how to prolong his life, but at least you have had a head start compared to me.

Enjoy every day that you have. I truly know what you are feeling, and it is not easy.

As long as there is hope, then keep trying. But on the other hand, let him not linger in pain.

I'm so very sorry to hear your precious Ozzy is so ill. Sending lots and lots of healing and positive vibes to him. He is so young. I keep you both in my prayers. Please keep us posted on how he's doing.

I can't imagine how hard it is to hear that news. I will keep Ozzy in my thoughts and prayers. He's so young to be dealing with this, poor guy. :(
