I am so sorry to hear the news. Has the vet said anything about giving fluids?
I just lost my 6 year old min pin in September to kidney failure. By the time we caught it she wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink and wouldn't move. I took her in the vet gave her fluids for 3 days and it was like I had my puppy back. She was diagnosed in May and we enjoyed another 4 wonderful months together. The food we had her on was the science diet k/d canned but she hated it so what I did was boil potato and carrots in water on the stove them mix that in with her canned food, poured some of the boiled water in to not make it so dry and half a slice of bread for fiber. This is the only way I could get her to eat it. Hopefully yours will not be as picky.
There are a lot of options you have depending on the severity of the kidney failure. Do you remember what the BUN and creatinine levels were? Also anemia goes along with the disease. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and please keep us updated. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know.
