Boxer Pal
We brought Roxie home yesterday. We adopted her from a family in the military. Our breeder found her in the paper, the family was trying to sell her for $300. They couldn't sell her so they were going to take her to the pound and our breeder contacted us (knowing we are suckers when it comes to boxers,
) and we of course took her in. Roxie is 2 years old. The owners lost her AKC papers, so no one wanted her. How dumb is that? Papers do not make the dog!
She is EXTREMELY underwieght, and the vet said she has gingivitis. How can I put some weight on her quickly? She only weighs 45 ponds soaking wet.
It is hard to imagine that they starved her. She is bascially polite. She comes when called, lays down, sits, and shakes hands. The best thing about her is she barks very loudly when someone knocks at the door. Our other two never would until Roxie came here. Silly dogs! I gather the military family were her second owners. They kept her crated almost all of the time. She has been spayed, so someone really cared at one point and time. She is also current on vaccinations, all we had to get her yesterday at the vet was Bordetella.
We now have three female dogs in the house. It is going suprisingly well.
I welcome any and all advice and pointers. She picks on Destiny, our 3 month old brindle, but not bad enough to worry much. After all this is only the second day.
