I swear that I do not know where she gets her strength and courage her determination and drive.

She likely gets it from her caregivers. I give you a lot of credit for staying on top of Cami's health issues and getting her the very best care. There are plenty of people out there who buy into the whole "a dog is just a dog" philosophy and wouldn't have invested even a quarter of the time and money you have to take care of their animals. Cami knows how much you care for her and she knows that her return home is anxiously awaited. That is enough to keep her fighting. Hang in there, Cami. We're all pulling for you.

I hope you can take your baby home with you tonight and you can start enjoying the snow a little bit.

Cami is home and asleep on the couch. I guess I got my wish.
It is bitter sweet. In order for her to come home they had to tap the fluid from around her lungs. They got nearly a liter.

We brought her home knowing that we are on borrowed time. Maybe a day. Maybe two. If we are lucky three.

She came home and headed to the back door. Went outside and went potty #1 & #2. Started to trot to the door and I nearly had a coronary. That is what she is used to so that is what she did.

She came in and went directly to her water bowl and drank and drank and drank. Got up on the couch and fell fast asleep for about an hour.

She happily woke up to take her first dose of meds for the evening. Ate 1/2 can of food. She was eating a prescription diet (IAMS ID--I think) and they sent us home with it. Sort of odd that I have always been such a stickler for her diet and now I don't give a damn. She can eat whatever she wants. High fat, full of grains, crappy ingredients.....who cares.

She got up on the chair with her daddy while he was eating his eggs and got a few sample of those as well. At this point seems to have a good appetite.

Went back out to potty again #1 & #2.....back out again after that for another #1. This was all inside of 10 minutes. I swear they were not taking her out nearly enough which is what we were thinking all along.

Went to remove the bandage on her leg where the IV port was. She immediately started to lick at it and got it bleeding. We wrapped it back up and then it seemed as if it were bothering her really bad I MEAN REALLY BAD. She became manic. Couldn't stop moving her leg. Couldn't find a comfortable place to lay down. Started breathing short quick breaths. We thought we were heading back to the ER only this time it was to let her go.

I was petting her and could feel the heart beating erratically (a-fib). It would come in waves. As soon as it would start going crazy the freaky breathing started. It lasted about 20 minutes.

It is gone now and she is resting on the couch again. I guess this is something that we will have to get used to over the next few days.

She is here at home where she is loved. I know her time with us is short but at least she isn't with strangers and we just couldn't let her last days be somewhere that she wasn't comfortable.

At the first sign of distress or discomfort we will let her go. That time is not now.

Hug your babies a little tighter tonight. Heartache like this isn't even explainable.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I just lost mine only weeks ago, and I thought I would die along with her, she meant that much to me. I'm so glad your boxer baby has you to love her. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

I'm glad you got to bring her home again, but so sad for you at the same time. She's a lucky girl to get to be home with her mom and dad.

I'll keep praying for you, your husband, and Cami.

I haven't been able to post in this thread yet just because it was so heart breaking. Reading your posts from the last couple of days has put me in tears but not only sad tears but happy tears too because I know and Cami knows how much she is loved.

There is no better place for her that being at home at this point and I wish you strength to get through this hard time. Just remember that you have done everything possible for Cami and she will be watching over you guys forever. Now go hug that baby and spoil her even more (if that is even possible ;))

Keep your chin up.

I am happy to know Cami is home and with the ones she loves, and those people who cherish her. I know you will make these days as good as they can be. I willl continue with thoughts and prayers for the three of you.

Give Cami a big hug and tell her that we all love her and wish her a beautiful journey when the time comes. I only wish we could all be there to give you and your husband a big hug as well.
