I think my 8 week old baby Trinity has nightmares. When she is sleeping, she shakes pretty badly and whines. It sort of looks like she is trying to run. I've never seen this in any other dog and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. What could be causing it? Is there anything I should do for her when it happens? She also still sucks her tongue when sleeping, which I assume is normal in young pups!?!?!?!? And I would also like to report that her aggressiveness has slowed alot in the past week. Thanks again for your suggestions.

That's pretty normal, my two run and whine and twitch in their sleep all the time - they are just dreaming - you don't need to do anything :)

Dreaming

Cassius dreams alot in his sleep, just last night he was sound asleep on the sofa with his head on my lap, and he starts to shudder/shake and then starts his sleeping barks and whines, it is quite normal..:D, we reckon he is dreaming about his day at daycare and is chasing the other dogs around. he use to suck on his tongue when he was yonger, and somtimes it would just stick slightly out of his mouth while sleeping, very cute :p
I would just let her sleep and dream, I have never woken Cassius up in the middle of his dreaming - don't want to startle him.

Running, snorting, drooling, farting, whining....ect

Magic does the following while sleeping, on a daily basis.

Runs, whines, barks, drools, farts, twitches, shakes, growls, snorts, grunts!

I swear that she is having a heart attack some times, maybe i have an oddball boxer  But my first boxer did the same thing. I would say she is dreaming. If they could only talk and tell us what they were dreaming it wouldl make us all feel alot better.

All the dogs I've ever owned, Boxer or not have done this. I've heard somewhere over the years not to wake them, so I never do. My husband and I try to figure out what they're dreaming. It's so cute. Hogan is the only one who is sometimes vocal while dreaming. He makes little sounds. It's so cute.

Oh this totally normally my 1 1/2 yo rescue just the other night was barking, growling, and moving her legs while sleeping. This was shorlty after we had gone for a walk so I couldn't even imagine what she must've been dreaming.

Kona had dreams all the time. Running, wining, tooting etc. totally normal in out house! We use to pretend she was chasing something when her feet would get moving:)
