Nicknames and why?

I was very comforted months ago, when I first came to Boxerworld, to learn that everyone has tons of nicknames for their boxers. My husband said it was wrong to call our boy any other name but Grunt, that it would confuse him. Not to say I don't use his given name; I do when we are training or when I need his attention RIGHT now. The rest of the time, it's BB (Boxer Boy), Bingy, Baby Boy, Banger, Gruntman, Swinger, Moosh Baby, Pea Boy, and some others I can't think of right now. Also, Guess Who is calling him some of these names now, too......hehehe

Its going to be hard to translate the knicknames we have for Orion and Canela from Spanish but I'll give my best shot at it.

Orion- Orionchis (a diminutive in spanish), Flaco (skinny boy), Niño (boy)

Canela- Caneluchis (same diminutive), Niña (girl), Bolita (little ball)

Some get lost in the translation LOL

I love to read all the names you have for your babies. I am also guilty of the nicknames ... zoe zoe, smooshy lips, gooshy smoosher, lippy girl, potty head, lil'miss, most are only names that we use when we are playing. She hardly answers to her own name!! , I wonder why??

Everyone's nicknames are so cute! And they kinda reveal how crazy we all are too! Some of Layla's nicknames are Lou Lou, Lou Lou Layla, Mama's Girl, Smoosher, Boo, fart nuts (I don't have a clue where that one came from!), beautiful baby etc. These usually follow with a kissfest, that we both participate in. I am totally in love with that dog!

well when I first brought vegas home I called her "bitty" because she only weighed 4 lbs. now I call her "buckethead" and I think she likes it!

We all seem to have a different nickname for Precious. I call her sweetness or beautiful, my daughter calls her wiggle worm, my son calls her Presh, my husband calls her snugs, and my dad calls her smashmouth. He always jokes that it's so unfortunate that she smashed her face in at some point before we got her. :D

My Kaitlin goes by the nicknames Katie, Kate, and grandma gave her the nickname Katie-gurl!

I have been known to call her and my skin kid a variety of names depending on the situation on hand. But i do have to say one day she bumped me with that "iron" head of hers and i called her a "block-head" and her poor feelings were hurt, cause her ears went back and her face fell. :( i just about cryed myself. I had to spend a couple of minutes telling her that she was momma's beautiful baby girl and so very pretty....

I don't really use much slang I am fairly new to this board too..still can't figure out how to get My Maggie's picture on here (when I reply or post a message so if anyone can help me...)...we call magdelena...Maggie, Mags, Magget, Mag Pie, wiggle bum, pooh pooh face (as a puppy she tends to, well do I have to say it...)....we barely ever call her by her actual name...

OMG...This is so funny! My DH always comes up with nicknames for everyone and our Roxy is no exception. She has so many I don't know if I can think of them all, but I'll try...Rox the box, Freak (boxer burns), Kricket (when her legs are a certain way they look like a crickets), Foxy Roxy (cuz she's a pretty girl), Platapus(sp?) (when she lays her face on the floor and her jowls spread out), Sissy (from her skinkid sisters), Alligator face (who knows!). I know there are more...Funny thing is she responds to all of them!

I was on another board and saw people saying DH this and DH that. I knew it didn't mean what I call my EX hubby.. (it still means d!ckhead for him though lmao). It all made sense once I found out what they meant by it

LOL...my ex husband has always been referred to as Butthead and that is being nice LOL
