Rowdy Boys

Completely Boxer Crazy
Eric, I hope the visit goes well. Kudos to you for choosing rescue. The love you receive as a result is more than worth it.

We will always have a rescue dog in our family. Even though we adopted Omar from people we knew, I consider that close enough. Anytime someone can give a deserving dog a forever home is rescue in my eyes.

Best wishes from one home with two rowdy boys to another soon-to-be home with two rowdy boys...

Good luck with Moses! I also adopted from GABR, and I love my Dukey so much. I also had the privelage of meeting Hunny up close and personal, and what an adorable and loving girl! My Duke is 2 yrs old and full of himself, and he has every right to be - but it was nice to see Hunny, her name definately fits her. If we did not already have two dogs, I would definately have applied for Hunny, I felt a connection with her instantly as I myself am a very calm, good-natured being. I hope she finds a wonderful home! I also have to give kudos to GABR for all the hard work they do for all the boxers! I personally only know Claudia and she is an absolute angel.

I'm a little behind but wanted to wish you good luck in your pursuit of Moses! And I'm sure your wife will fall in love with him like she did with Jedi, he is a boxer after all :D ;)

Where do I start...

I guess I should start with the fact I am getting a second Boxer for sure. Now let me go in to some background. A close friend of mine who has 2 Boxers is getting a divorce. She is only able to afford, keep one of her Boxers.

I have known this Boxer since the day he came home from the Breeder and my wife is a lot more comfortable with a dog she knows over a dog she has not met yet. I have talked to Claudia at GABR and she pointed out some things for me to consider (thanks again for your advice Claudia) and the fact Moses has a waiting list already and being young with such a great temperament he should find a home with relative ease.

So with all things in consideration I will be adopting a new Boxer some time within the next month (when depends on when my friend has to move to new housing). It was either I adopt him or he would end up in GABR, it only made sense I take him.

His name is Kona and he is a brindle male. Jedi is 13.5 months old and Kona I believe is just over a month younger, not sure of the exact Birthday at this moment. He is smaller then Jedi (Jedi is half Boxer half horse) by almost a full head and is thicker where Jedi is tall and lean.

I am getting Kona neutered Thursday the 21st, he will spend the day and night before at my house as a test run and then I will drop him off that morning to be fixed. Kona will either recover here or at his original home depending on how things are going over there at the time. We are looking for whatever is best for his recovery.

Kona is a very loving boy with tons of energy. He is a butt wagging, snorting, happy, happy boy. He blows boogers for distance compared to Jedi. Kona is a cuddler and eats crazy. He jabs his face in to the food, lifts his head like a bucket loader and shakes. Then he has to walk around picking up the kibble he just sprayed before he can start all over by jabbing his face in to the bowl again.

His original family will visit and of course bring his sister over for the ever famous 3 Boxer play sessions in my back yard or at the dog park.

I look forward to his permanent arrival but it is bittersweet because a good friend will be losing what I gain. Luckily she knows how much we will love and cherish him and he is only a visit away.

I will have to a job ahead of me training him to my commands and getting him used to the house and new pack will just take time. I am looking forward to Kona's arrival and of course to spoil him rotten next week when he is recovering from his neuter.

Woo Woo - great news. I am so glad that Kona is joining your family. It would be very stressful for him to go to an unknown family, so this is a win-win situation for you and Kona...

So happy for you!

Eric,

What a great addition to your family! True rescue without the middleman. You are very fortunate to know Kona's history and his temperment. And he and Jedi already know and love each other. This is a match made in heaven. I am really happy for all of you. And the great people at Green Acres will find a wonderful home for Moses.

Welcome Kona!

That's great! I'm sure your friend is relieved that you will be able to take Kona in! He sounds like a wonderful boy!
