Neuter Or Not

Definitely neuter; he will be the better for it. Not only for the health issues your boy could face, but as others said, there are way too many animals on petfinder already.

You might ask what are the benefits of not neutering? I really can't think of any reason not to if you aren't going to breed. They will run off to find a female that is in heat miles away, get lost, get hit by a car.

Just look at all the half-Boxer dogs on petfinder, and think about how many may not get a good home. That is a good reason to neuter. There are also all the health benefits, so for us it was an easy decision.

My daughter had an intact male Doberman. He start to become aggressive to my dog and their other neutered male. He became "real territorial" toward me and my son when we visited. What got them to Neuter was the fact he was becoming super dominate in the home, and he snapped @ my Son IL. I told him IF YOU would train him and get him neutered he could be a great dog.

Now that he is neutered his aggression has gone way down. Plus the fact that if he smells a female in heat, he will get out and most likely you will never see him again.

Please neuter your Joey. Our boy, Grunt, was neutered at 6 months, for the health reasons already stated.

As everyone else has already stated...Neuter him. He will be a much happier doggy. As well has having a better chance of not getting cancer.

I know you might think it cruel to cut off his manhood, but there are only benefits to neutering. I had an intact male lab/collie mix when I was growing up and he would break chains, dig, climb, jump, and drag his dog house to get to a female in heat 1/4 mile down the street. I didn't realize when I was a kid, but it is very irresponsible and unfair to have a dog with raging hormones who can't get any...

I waited to neuter my male til he was about 1 year old. If I didn't have an intact female who could come into heat at any time (she is almost 11 months old and still no heat) I would have waited to 18 months to make sure the growth plates were closed first. There are risks and benefits to neutering. Neutering can mess with metabolism, can cause longer growth period, and cause thyroid problems. The main thing it can prevent is the rare case of testicular cancer. The risks of neutering however are far less than those of spaying which is why I chose to neuter my male and not spay my female....however...it is a personal decision as to what you choose, so good luck in the decision.

Neutuer for sure less health problems and in my opinion a dog easier to train
