Neighbor...Boxers...Ugly??

The one thing about Boxers is that they never lose that puppy cuteness!! All puppies are cute, it's when they grow up that each breed can get "ugly". I 've always preferred smoosh faces to long snouted breeds. Boxers also retain their puppy charm forever with the added bonus of being smart and well mannered. My husband grew up with other breeds and he is now a convert. All those years of bragging about my childhood Boxer, he thought I was exaggerating--No Way!!

well i think i know just how you feel...my Samson is just 9 weeks and he is the most beautiful thing!! well, i took him to the pet store yesterday to buy some stuff and the groomer started talking to me. she was telling me how she used to have boxers, and we were having a nice conversation until she said...look! his nose has a defect! and continued to point out this supposed defect in his cute little nose. needless to say my feelings were hurt and i was mad. if the woman had any sense at all she would have just kept her mouth shut. you just don't go around putting down someone's baby!!

perhaps you should have been very diplomatic and said,"Beautiful is in the eye of the beholder." If her children are as ugly as you say, at least you furbabie is prettier than her skinny kid.

I don't know how anyone can say Boxers are ugly either but to each his own I guess. The look of the Boxer is one of the things that attracted me to the breed (I have a thing for all the squishy-faced breeds) and then when I became familiar with that silly personality I fell in love and had to have one! The other day at PetSmart this guy walked by us and of course Roxy was bouncing around wanting him to come up and pet her. He looked at her and said something like, "Get away from me, you ugly dog" with me standing right there! I still think maybe he might have been kidding because I can't believe someone would say something like that seriously but kidding or not he got the dirtiest look I could muster up from me and I told Roxy while he was still in earshot that she was certainly not ugly! If you don't like a type of dog keep it to yourself is what I say! I would never tell anyone else that their dog is ugly no matter what I think. The nerve of some people!

I could see why some people would say that Boxers are ugly... they probably have only seen bad boxer specimens and have never spent any time with a real well bred, well raised boxer. I have seen some pretty ugly boxers owned by people who shouldn't be owning them.... and I'm a boxer lover!

Still though, I would be upset if a friendly neighbor said that to me too... I would expect some stranger on the street to make a comment like that, not someone I knew well.

Nmsis - your sister must belong to my family..noone in my family likes Cassius, (which is a completeshock to me because he is so loveable and cute!!), so i don;t like anybody in my family!!
my mom says "eww, shoo, shoo, go away dog!!" it makes me want to say shoo, shoo, go away mom!!

KelandRoxy - i would've said "Roxy, get away from the ugly man!!" how rude!!, Don;t people have any manners!!

robynkendall- i agree NO ONE shuold ever insult anyone's babies, fur or skin!! it's just wrong.. well obviously she was not a real boxer lover!!

I am glad I'm part of BW because it goes to show that we are all right and they are all wrong..boxer are the most beautiful babies in the world!! :D

I have yet to see an ugly Boxer!

I may be biased, but I think that every Boxer I have ever seen is beautiful. Everytime I see other Boxers when we are out I always have to "check" them out! It has become a habit almost! My kids are even biased now to the breed, and want no other dogs but Boxers, I think anyone that thinks a Boxer is ugly needs their eyes examined...:cool: but then again, I am a Boxer lover!!

You mean.. not everyone loves big brown eyes, wet kisses, snores, and gas passing, followed by crazy kidney beaning??? :eek: , honestly, I simply can't understand how anyone could possibly think that boxers are not the cutest pups out there. So far only one person gives me a hasle.. one of my oldest sisters. :rolleyes: Constantly say "Shoo, get away, ew, stop.." hehe, it's funny when Rocky will turn around and let out his woo woos.. which she will usually reply with.. "What is wrong with your dog?"

LOL, oh well.. her loss :p
