Last year this time, my vet diagnosed my boxer, Doc , with cardiomyopothy. We did not expect him to live a month. He was almost 10 1/2 at the time. We one year later he is still here and up until last night was doing well... He has been having fainting spells and losing his bowels and urine since I got home last night around 6... I honestly did not expect him to be with us this morning, but he is...He has had about 4 episodes since he got up at 7 am. I know the end is near, but I don't know how to tell if he is in pain... I don't want to have him put down, I want this to happen as naturally as possible...I have cried my eyes out....I am exhausted as I am sure he is too... We have hugged, kissed, and told each other our goodbyes, but I just want some prayers that he will go peacefully and not in pain...Anyone go thru this, what can I expect? Am I being cruel by not putting him to sleep? He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but then I am not sure...Please....looking for comfort and guidance...for the best friend I have ever had or will have in my life...My Doc....:(
...and I am sure he is wondering why the role reversal...Well thank you all so much for your advice , prayers , and taking the time out of your busy day to post to me regarding Doc...I am going to go lay down for a bit, because I am exhausted also..Think I will make a bed up on the floor next to Doc and take a nap with him....
