Yeah, similar sounding names can cause confusion. We tried to name all three of our animals somethign with different sounds at the front and back: Chloe, Ty, and Sam (though Ty is usually called Ty-Bo and Sam ends up as either Sam or Sammy).
I think Meike is cute though!
We named Sam after my husband Sean - SAM are his initials.

I have to agree with the confusion part with 2 M names...and I speak from experience. We named our first 4 dogs Molly, Bear, Sugar and Gus, all of which are very distinct. Then we named girl #5 Maggie. Now when we say Molly or Maggie, both girls look up. They quickly figure out which one we're talking to by seeing which one we're looking at, but still I wish we had thought about that...
I'd go with something that sounded very different than Maggie. There's my 2 cents

thanks now how do I break it to the boyfriend- who is really set
on the name " Meike " which has grown on me. It really sounds too much like "Maggie".
I am thinking of the name "Cinco" since I have 3 skin kids, Maggie and this puppy will make 5.
I think "Kitty " is funny- but Maggie will go nuts!

Harley was the name we had picked out for Maggie when we thought she was a he for 3 days. Really really bad BYB and dumb me for not looking. It was a big laugh though!!!!
