Please keep us posted on Baxter's progress with the new regime. I hope you'll see some improvement. My parent's 12 1/2 yr old boxer has recently been having some problems that the vets feel is a brain tumor. They are not certain and my parents opted not to do an MRI as they feel their options are very limited at his advanced age - their goal is to keep him as happy and comfortable as they can until it's time to let go. He has been bouncing back nicely since the initial symptoms and tentative diagnosis, so we are hopeful that we still have some quality time left. I've been following your story and sharing it with my mom. Good luck with Baxter. These senior boys are just the best!

We are continuing to pray and send lots of positive vibes . I know Baxter has been through a lot in his life and he was lucky to find you.
He is such a fighter I just know he isn't ready to give up.
Look foward to hearing from you.

Chris,

Thank you for thinking of us. Baxter has taken a few steps backward over the weekend. Since decreasing him down to 7.5mg of prednisone a day, he is experiencing some confusion and circling again. Dr. Kruesi is sending us some vertigoheel (homeopathic remedy) to help relieve these symptoms and meanwhile we are to stop decreasing his pred doses. Aside from this small setback, he is doing well. Baxter continues to have a wonderful appetite. His appetite is so good that he knocks his stand completely over after he eats to make sure it's empty  Also, he has been sleeping like a log straight through the night!! We have Bax weaned onto all of his supplements so we are hopeful that in the coming weeks we will get him weaned off of the prednisone successfully.

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts!

Thanks for the update, Aimee. Can humans take vertigoheel? Just curious since my friend is having some unexplained dizziness.

Yes, they can. Apparently there was a one year study conducted from 1995-1996 on 119 people. The results were favorable and the American Medical Association printed an article in 1998 in the Journal of the American Medical Association regarding this study. If I read the article correctly, this was the first article ever to be published on a homeopathic drug study.

I hope this helps! Let me know how your friend does and I will be sure to update you on Mr. B's success with it :)

We had a set back with Duke when they cut back his pretension too. It was too bad I did have an alternative like vertigoheel back then.
It was probably too new and my vet not being holistic may not have know about it. Sure hope it helps Bax.

Thanks for the link, Aimee. Right now she's on Meclazine which makes her tired. She has to go for blood work to see what's going on. I see this works for motion sickness, too. I'll have to try it next time I'm going on a long car ride!
