Just carhing up on this thread after the weekend. I had hoped the other meds would do the trick, but you've made the right decision to keep Baxter as comfortable as possivle. It is so heart wrenching to actually see this, but you do what you have to do, always with Baxter's best in mind. He is very ill, but he is showered with attention and love. We all should be so fortunate when our health is failing us.

Still in our thoughts and prayer here.

Aimee, this certainly hits close to home for me also - our Mya was also on prednisone as part of her palliative care treatment, and as I have said before, it helped improve the quality of her her life. Both you and Baxter have proven to be real troopers, and will continue to keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. Take care ~ Cathy

Baxter is feeling much better tonight. He is more mobile and is even going up and down the stairs with assistance (Yahoo, my back is aching from carrying him )! He still leans to the right (especially his head), which has his balance off, but we are making progess. I'm hoping that he will continue gaining strength over the next few days. After all he has been through, Bax still has the "fight" in him. My boy is obviously not ready to give up yet and as long as he wants to be here, we are going to keep fighting with him.

I called Dr. Kruesi's office today to let them know what happened and that we would need to stay on the prednisone. I wanted to know if our supplement protocol needed adjusting since it was based on weaning him off the steroids. They asked that the ER records be faxed to them and they would call me back. I haven't heard from them so hopefully tomorrow I will know more.

You all are the GREATEST! I've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support you have offered us during our ups and downs. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Tomorrow I go back to work after 3 days off, wish me luck (I need Jack AND the huge line of angry boxers on stand-by please :D )

Atta Boy Baxter....once again our hero shows us all what true strength and pure love is all about. You never cease to amaze me and that is why we love you so much. Jack is packing his little doggie suitcase so he can go to work with you in the morning...he says he ready to RRRRRumble....he's not really a fighter but he says Mr. B is worth fighting for!!
