Daisy's Ma

Boxer Pal
I run into the same thing all the time when I walk Daisy people will go the other way. Some times it makes me mad but I feel very safe when I walk her by my self . You can tell when some one come's running up to Daisy that they are owned by a boxer or have been owned before.

I thought we were alone in the park when suddenly he came to a dead stop and refused to move, I looked ahead and saw (barely) someone in the distance climbing up over a bank by the river but I paid him no mind as he was app. 200 yards away and no biggie to me. As he continued to walk towards us (Jake was now firmly planted and slightly growling) I realized that something was definitely wrong with this situation; this guy was obviously on the extreme weird side and the closer he got, the louder and deeper Jake's growl became. This idiot continued towards me with one arm stretched out and his other hand in a coat pocket - even with the rain it was way too hot for a coat - by now Jake had the loudest, low-pitched continuos-without-a-breath deep belly growl I have ever heard and he had "assumed the position" with his mane standing up down the back of his neck.

I have never seen Max act this way... Honestly I can't even picture it. Maybe it's a good thing because I can assume that I was never in any danger and he did not feel the need to protect me... On the other hand it would be nice to know he's up to the chalange if need shall arise. For now he's still the silly little pup that will let anybody in a house with a big smile and a stubby whack :)

I live in the middle of a busy urban neighborhood and Wallace has shown her ability to assess situations and people many times (she is a 1 1/2). Normally she considers herself the welcoming committee for our building, but one evening someone from one of the bars across the street decided to take a nap on the front steps as we were coming out for a walk. She started barking and would not let me move forward (blocked me and bumped into my legs to make me back up) and would not stop for anything until the guy got up and moved on down the sidewalk. All of my neighbors on the porch clapped for her... She also will act differently depending on who is walking her- the homeless guy that can't come near me, she played with when my dad walked her. If she hears anyone running up behind us (people jogging), she stops and looks and waits for me to tell her it is okay. She has never tried to hurt anyone (she just barks until they go away), but I have full faith in her determination to protect me.

everyone's stories are so great. I too open the door with a dog present when solicitors come pestering me. They usually take a step back really quick when I open the door holding one of the dogs by the collar. Of course, my friendly babes wouldn't hurt a fly either, but they always look so anxious to get a piece out of strangers..who never know the furkids just wanna give them a slobber ;)
