I posted this same question about a week ago but didn't get much response, so maybe it is kind of a unique problem. Bingo gets this same condition in the winter too, and I thought it was because he shakes in the middle of the night and hits his ears on his crate, so I wondered if his crate was too small, but it's already huge. Then the ears will bleed if it gets really cold out, like 20 and below if we go on walks and when he shakes his head they'll bleed. Last winter I put neosporin on them continually, it has a steriod in it, but it seemed to help me get ahead of it anyways. But I noticed the same thing starting tohappen this year.
I agree with Julie M and as someone told me in an answer to my question, it might just be the yeast in their ears that makes them shake their heads. I am going to try a natural remedy to see if it helps and clean his ears out but Bingo's ears smell fine and are very healthy looking but he is a head shaker and a general shaking freak. I am going to get a bigger crate for Bingo because he likes to sleep in it at night, but it's gonna be huge. So, I guess I would see if you can clear up her ears to get the shaking to stop and we'll see if that helps us both!!! Try looking up a recipe on here called "ear beer" and that is a natural remedy that I'm going to try or something close to it. Good luck!
