I have a female boxer and she seems small. Im really not for sure.(This is my first Boxer) She weights about 50 pounds and she 10 months old. I understand that females are smaller than males and my dad has a male thats almost 100 pounds(very Muscular) I was just curious to other members females. I am planning on breeding with my fathers male. (I want another Boxer) but dont want to if it would put her at risk because of her size. Any Advice? Also I would have a picture but im not sure how to post a link. I could email one. Send me a message if youre interested. Thanks guys.

She sounds normal to me. My boxer Zoe (female) weighs 48lbs and she is 13 months. If your girl is 50lbs and is only 10 months it sounds like shes gonna be pretty big for a female. Your dads boxer sounds HUGE!!! Ive heard of very few boxers getting to 100lbs. Good luck

Oh yeah and about the breeding to get another boxer. Why dont you just buy another one? Or better yet what about a rescue. They are always looking for homes. Just a thought

My two pups are 9 months old. The female is 50 lbs and the male is 60 lbs. Sounds like your baby is right on track!

Minx has just turned two, and she is about 50lbs. Just the right size for a pretty girl!

Our Scooby is only six months old and is already 43 pounds.
We are wondering how big she will get.:)

First of all, 50lbs at 10 months sounds pretty big to me.....
Boxers generally finish filling out between the ages of 2 & 3 so she has alot of growing left to do.
Our female is 3 1/2 years old & weighs 50lbs.
Although the American boxer standard doesn't give a weight guide the other standards that I have read, (Australian, British & German), all do. In those standards the average fully grown female is said to be approximately between 55 & 65lbs & the average fully grown male is said to be approximately between 65 & 75lbs. 100 lb boxer WOW

Secondly, wanting to breed with your dad's male.
Do you know about the appropriate health testing that should be done prior to making this decision, has your dad's male had this testing done.

Do you know the hereditary history of each dog?

You shouldn't even consider breeding until your female is 2 yrs of age. Only after 2 years of age will your girl be both physically & mentally mature enough. Also other problems such as seizures & temperament may not be apparent until she is 2 or 3 years old.

Finally, wanting another boxer is not a reason to breed your female. The only really valid reason for breeding is for the betterment of the breed, I know that sounds like a cliche but it is true.

Here is another thread that may enlighten you of the reality of breeding..........& yes, this thread is from an experienced reputable breeder.

There is an awful lot of information on breeding in Boxerworld, please use the 'search' function & spend alot of time researching before you a make a decision.

MODERATOR EDIT:
Sorry to jump in on your post Matt, but I wanted to add three more links that I stole off of Julie's signature line - SummerBoxer: all of these links are must reads, but you have 14 months before you'll know if she is breeding quality or not. :)

Size really doesn't matter as long as you love her. I have a male who is only 50lbs and doubtful he will get any bigger. Very very small for a male but he is my baby :D

Matt was right on and I don't think anyone could of said it better. Breeding is not something you do just because you want another dog. Your dad's dog is way above standard and should not be used as a stud.

Matt - GREAT POST!!!

My girl is over 2 years old and only weighs 55 lbs. The vet says he doesnt think she will grow much bigger.

My Hook's mother was 55-60 lbs at full size.

I think your father's dog is the exception here...not yours!
